Kin ell isn't there a shiitload of buzzword laden tosh around these days.

Gym companies calling themselves wellbeing partners for example.

Admittedly for the target audience it resonates and the fact that grumpy old cuunts like me hate it would only add to its appeal amongst the young and hip. [smi]

The new reality is life on the dole because of a bout of the flu, the media have created a new recession.

The cure is worse than the illness.

It's a complex situation buddy, with lots of unknowns. We just need to broaden our minds, listen and challenge and try to be rational.

I agree that people struggling and potentially losing their jobs is terrible. I know people in that predicament. If this is what we're being told it is then sometimes you just have to look at the bigger picture and prioritise. Of course, you do have to accept that this is not the same as more manageable seasonal flu strains for which a vaccination programme exists (Oh and bnet I read about 1918 and it's shocking if any of that is remotely true).

It was maybe too subtle but if you look at the context and who I was responding to, you might understand why I wrote that, based on previous futile attempts to provoke at least a little reflection. If that constitutes virtue signalling to you then so be it.

Oh and dirtyb, if you're being serious, cheers. Does the bollard ever get a clean and polish by the way ? Don't mean to pry but..

oneofthe8------- So what is virtue signalling got to do with this? It's a complex situation buddy, with lots of unknowns. We just need to broaden our minds, listen and challenge and try to be rational.

You are obviously one of two things. A sad act trying to get a nifty at a time when it's no appropriate to do so. Or a bumbaclart.[:(][:(][:(]

Fungazi. My working title comes from looking out the window of my local village pub ( more often than I care to admit ) where there is a very busy stretch of road. In the middle of the road outside is a Bollard. It is always so close to traffic it's always dirty.

One day I noticed someone had scrawled on it L.C.F.C with a big heart on it.

In a moment of drunken lucidity, I adored all it stood for. In so many ways I can't explain. So it became all I stand for.[^][^][^]

I have to agree with the swan. A rather wonderful tale that stirs so many emotions. Quite brilliant.

No point having a thread about best reason for a moniker. [smi]

Obviously you missed my little chat with Buz at the weekend! As I said to him, you will no doubt react with disdain to the admission that it was the Marillion track of that name.

Where are the prophets and poets indeed ?!

And yerself?!

Swanny it's true. I don't know why it affected me so. Sometimes it's best not to analogize. But I'll try.

I think to be a Leicester fan from the late fifties and never seeing us win anything and always having the dirt on us like an obscure Bollard that no one took any notice of us. Then suddenly we were the Bollard that shone and they all had to take notice of.

That message scrawled on that dirty Bollard was life changing.
