I've just got 4 Days in November: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy - by Vincent Bugliosi, on kindle.
I was alerted to it after watching the film Parkland on Channel 4 the other night. The film was based on this book. Sadly the author has recently died.
I shall be delving into it as soon as I have finished Vietnam by Max Hastings.

I found the film Parkland very interesting. It very much puts forward the theory that Oswald was a lone gunman. It's narrative takes place more or less exclusively in or around the Parkland Hospital with the events impacting on the staff, police and journalists there as they happen. The Assassination itself, the policeman shot by Oswald then Ruby shooting Oswald. Oswalds mother comes across as very unhinged.I had no idea previously of the loud and barely controllable squabbling between the FBI, Dallas Police,Texas State Police and Doctors for instance. Some of it literally taking place over the dead Presidents body!
The book is 665 pages but I am looking forward to start reading it!

One book I dip into now and again is Ranulph Fiennes: Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know. He was quite a character in his day.

Another is Ten Types of Human: good but hard going.

Then there's the Baker and Lineker book, which has its moments.

Finally, Sugar's autobiography. Again, decent read so far.

I doubt I'll finish any of them. I've had the Fiennes one about two years.

Borebage I have just started Hastings' Vietnam reckon it may take some time to get through. Mrs E has just finished The Secret Rooms by Catherine Bailey. It has a local element as it is about the Manners family who own Belvoir Castle. A quite dreadful bunch, seems to be hereditary given three of the family relocated there from London a fee days ago. Nothing to do with coronavirus, of course.

I had no idea that at the time the South Vietnamese Army (ARVN) was the 4th largest in the World. But their Generals are inept and they were never really up for the fight like the Vietcong and the NVA were. The Americans are now reducing their forces and leaving more of the fighting to the ARVN. Most Americans on the ground are performing well they won Tet but it shocked people back in the USA. Drug abuse is a problem, some of the stuff coming out of Laos and Cambodia is 80% pure. A lot of it being bought and supplied to American 'grunts' by the ARVN. Anti-War movement is gaining more and more back home. But another 5 years of the War still to go!

Thanks Borebage. A few on here have mentioned Stuart Maconie; Cider with Roadies, Pies and Prejudice. His book on his reprise of the Jarrow March has a chapter on a visit to the King Power the season we were in CL and we met him at a book signing. He was interested in my Bentleys Premiership badge which I was wearing with pride, as I always do.

If you fancy a good fiction read I can recommend Father's Music by Dermot Bolger. I bought it at Dublin airport years ago. Excellent story telling. I may have to dig it out. Also, if you like crime fiction then try Michael Connolly's Harry Bosch books.

Just completed Vietnam(Max Hastings). The Oval Office 'conversations' between Nixon & Kissinger, recorded on the "White House Tapes", are eye opening, sometimes very shocking and often hilarious!
Now moving on to 4 Days in November: The Assassination of John F. Kennedy (Vincent Bugliosi).

Hey Borbage - when you need a quick fix to get your history on, there's a few You-Tube channels worth following. Time-wise, they could range from four minutes to an hour. All English.

Drachinifel - Naval history channel
