Me dad and his brother had biked it from Hinckley to Lynton for 2 weeks holiday and they got caught up in it, luckily the farmer let them stay in the barn until they'd dried out, the farmer said he'd never seen rain like it

Operation Cumulus an artificial rainfall experiment by British and International Scientists and carried out by the RAF. Dry Ice was poured out of planes through the tops of clouds causing heavy rainfall about 30 minutes later. The experiments were stopped abruptly on August 15th,1952, the same day as the Lynmouth flash flood disaster. The British Government and the RAF have always denied any connection between the two!

My grandparents owned some caravans at either Hunstanton or Yarmouth.
Apparently there were caravans stacked on top of each other. My dad remembers people who hadn't been effected walking away with piles of donated blankets.
