A very honest and emotional programme. I've always liked the bloke but wasn't aware he'd overcome such a harsh childhood to make a successful career against the odds. Respect Mr. Wrighty. Highly recommended.

My Millwall mates Dad was manager of one of the teams he played for when he was a youngster. Said he was a great kid to have in your team but he also managed the Wallace brothers and Paul Walsh who all became good professional footballers.

Used to drink in the Pelton Arms and The Plume of Feathers in Greenwich with his uncle. Great bloke.
He is Jermaine Wright's father. Played for Millwall. And Leeds and Ipswich.
Jermaine and Ian are cousins.

Will listen to this later. the only song choice I can find so far was "The Marriage of Figaro". The tune blasted out on the tannoy in Shawshank Redemption.

The Rivoli Ballroom,350 Brockley Road, directly opposite Crofton Park National Rail Station.
One of the last remaining intact 1950's style ballroom in London. Barrel-vaulted auditorium, sprung maple dance floor, still 50's/60's decor. Been there a few times in the past. Film location it was used for scenes in Tom Hardy's Legend among many others. Used as a location for Strictly Come Dancing in the past. Music videos and gigs such as Elton John,Damon Albarn,Florence and the Machine,Noel Gallagher,White Stripes and The Kings of Leon.
Opened in 1913 and still going strong,an absolute gem!

Yes the outside doesn't look much now. Have you been inside it,George?
I've used the Brockley Jack pub just down the road a few times. You get some right old style 'geezer's' in there of an evening too!

The moment when Wright meets the teacher (who he thought was dead) who was the first (only?) positive male figure in his life.

If the Saharan sand doesn't get you watching this then nothing will. The look on Wright's face as he realises who his surprise guest is is priceless.

Not been inside for a good 20 years now.
Used to be fantastic.
The Brockley Jack!! Now there's a boozer and a half. Had to mind your P's and Q's in there if you didn't want a row.
