Are they slightly out of sync? I noticed that with both the penalty and the goal VAR , the screen above the Kop is slightly ahead of the one above the family stand. Being in SK1 the rest of the ground knew about the goal at least a second before we did. I’m probably getting old or did anyone else notice it.

Can only see the one but I was watching the ref as much as the screen. Watching the highlights on the TV there are cheers from somewhere earlier than the rest of the ground though I thought (hoped) it was the Everton fans responding to the ref dropping the ball (as if for a free kick) immediately before signalling the goal.

i can only see one screen, so no idea if they are out of sync but i agree with buzz...the ref did seem to be trolling everton by dropping the ball as if for their free kick - cue cheers from everton fans - and then awarding the goal. but maybe the monitors in the concourse showed the VAR decision ahead of the big screen and that was where the noise came from?

I sit in the centre of the East stand & can confirm that the screens are in synch... as mentioned here the Toffees fans were nearer the referee & reacted to his actions rather than the screens.

I suspect that the ref dropped the ball down so that he had his hands free to make the TV screen gesture before pointing to the centre spot. The Scousers probably thought that he was dropping the ball for the free kick though ![]()

Correct, Hezzy. Happens every time. By the way, how could the away fans be nearer the ref than most of us lot??

I wasn't far from the TV presenters box at the back of SK4. The nearest pundit (Saha, I think it was) in response to fans asking what was going on mouthed what looked like 'goal'. I then convinced myself that he was saying 'no goal'.
