Chilwells defending?

He stood off and let that cross come in as if it was at a corner no attempt close him down stand on him or force him to make a hurried cross mind you don't know why our centrebacks didn't see Richarleson either.

Thought he was really poor.

They had targeted him for sure and he didn't attempt to stop the cross and even turned his back on it.

To be fair to him he gets no help from Barnes
Every game I have pointed this out against a better team we will get punished even more.

Couldnít believe how much space we afforded their right sided player. As someone else said Barnes didnít exactly help and I just donít see that pair working at all. Barnes seems to make very poor positional decisions. Hugging the line when he could drag a player inside to give Chilwell space to run at. Or he goes inside when the space is open for him to make a run. Hey donít play well together at the minute

Watford's Sarr will cause us grief if Chilwell and Barnes don't buck their ideas up.

Chilwell needs help from Barnes. If Chilwell goes to the attacker, he'll leave a massive gap between him and the centre half, unless Barnes or someone else drops back.

Their goal was created by us losing the contest for the ball too easily down our right and Everton then being able to switch play quickly to our left where there was less cover.

Barnes needs to improve his positional play both attacking wise and defensively. He is young and still relatively inexperienced, he will I'm sure get there.

I thought Barnes had a good game yesterday. We all got done for their goal and weíll analyse that and learn from it.

For the first twenty minutes Chilwell was deliberately staying close to our centre halves, for whatever reason, leaving acres out wide. It was an accident waiting to happen but he may have been playing to orders.

Staying close to your centre backs is what good defending is about. If the full back goes out to the winger, then the whole defensive unit has to shuffle across. The full back cannot go on his own, leaves a massive gap to be exploited.

That blog was a good read.
I have confidence that Buck and Southgate can sort out Chilwells defending, we all agree that he has a sweet left foot.

On Sunday, Oh let me say this first BC had a fantastic game at the Amex, anyway, BC had a very poor game defensively on Sunday and it then made Soyuncu very nervous, he was playing like last season, an accident waiting to happen.
Have you noticed how much respect teams show to Ricardo Pereira on the right side.

When the opposition are sprinting down their flank at will that far up the pitch I've never noticed any full back do it to such an extent as he did early doors.

The experiment of having Chilwell take a corner did not last for very long. For obvious reasons. I have seen Gareth Macauley takes better ones. What he was doing for the cross that led to their goal I have no idea. Still, if our manager can make Ianeacho into a proper striker there is hope that he might make Chilwell into a defender. Thank goodness we have a real full back superstar on the other side of the pitch.

I fear he's going to cost us, and fk my bets up too !
Can't Choudhairy adapt to left back if Fuchs is past it ? Or even Praet ?
Fuchs was great against Chelsea

The experts are out in force again. if your wrong about a player admit it, donít just wait ages for a bad game then try and justify yourself.
You will get a bit of inconsistency with young lads, Chilwell has had a great season just deal with it
