A master of understatement!
I was expecting at least 500 words on 'that goal', but no.
The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up now, just thinking about it...

Appreciating that it was a goal scored in a game we lost, it would be a worthy inclusion in the pre match montage. Which always makes the hairs on my neck stand up, even though I see it on a regular basis.

Thommo was one of the good guys, it would be great if he got promotion with PNE. We think we had it bad, what they have gone through in the last half century was far worse. Great article.

Good player, Steve Thompson, great signing by us and will always be fondly remembered .... His equaliser against Swindon Town was delicious, the way he placed it ... And, my ears are still ringing from that goal to this day .... Unforgetable ....

Can honestly say Iíve never seen fans go so ballistic at that moment. I did too. ( not even in our PL year).
Lost my glasses and one big bloke next to me just bear hugged the life out of my body! ( no idea who he was. Might have been Filbo!! ). Those 10-15 seconds just before the goal and just a minute after the second were a crescendo of expectation. And then boom! In my top 3 all time disappointments thanks to Mr Elleray.

The ecstasy and the agony, such cruel disappointment after that magnificent comeback.

Swindon are one of those teams, who got the upper hand on us in a big game in recent years - but have not even come close to matching our glories since, or have fallen on harder times.

Included in the list are Watford and Cardiff. Can even include Blackburn nowadays. Dare I say even Spurs.

Real turning point towards the end was their defenders brilliant tackle on Oldfield when it had goal written all over it and would have put us 4-3 in front!

3 0 down and Glos said ĎAll I want is a goalí.

I was incapable of speech when the equaliser went in.

One of my aunties one & only football game.
As a family we had tckts scattered around the stadium & when I got back to the minibus she was being attended to by some paramedics. 2 huge gashes just below the knees caused by her getting trapped against the seat in front after the equaliser went in.
Her words.. ď when the equaliser went in it was carnage, people jumping & diving everywhere, Iíll never go to another football match again.Ē
