Talks about the system of buying low selling high which has brought their club close to relegation. LCFC and Southampton get a mention of running a similar system. But we have bought high and cannot sell low, so some of that theory gets flushed down the toilet.

Interesting read though.

Southampton may have adopted such a strategy, but it's just ludicrous to say that we have. Mahrez and Maguire were sold high but only because both players made it very clear they wanted to leave and the club reluctantly took the highest offers available. Kante was only sold because of a release clause and even then he went on the cheap. Drinkwater also forced his move and frankly we did incredibly well to get £35m for him.

None of the above were part of a 'strategy' to buy low and sell high. Lazy journalism.

A reasonable article which is then totally flawed by including us. Weíve sold 4 players like this. Just 4. Not 10/12/14. Kantť we had no choice on. The other 3 Iíd say weíve done very well on it. Drinky is now a gonner, Maguire we got a world record fee but heís no way the best defender in the world and Riyad despite the fact he wanted out in 2017 took 18 months to complete the move.
You could argue who are the fools. Buy high. Working at OT. Their Best Buy seems to be James at £15M. Weíve picked up Wilf, Ricardo, Maddison, Soyuncu, all of whom are now worth at least treble BUT we donít want them to leave. Thatís the difference. Funny how they donít mention Liverpool selling Suarez or Courtinho for buy low/sell high.

Clapham. I was writing that at the same time as you. Funny how we came to the same conclusion albeit in a slightly different way but these journos really are as you say lazy. I find their info and where they get it from is unbelievable. Remember this is their JOB. It doesnít take a lot to know we are not in that situation. All of the big sides had the chance to buy half of our side at those prices but they didnít. The best one for me. Evans. £3.5M. But instead manure spend £80M on Maguire. Yes heís younger but come on. Value for money. Itís the same as individuals. We all know people who blow money on things but with a little effort could have saved a fortune. And VFM is LCFC

I suspect the journalist's analysis consisted of sitting at his desk and thinking to himself, "What English clubs could I say have adopted this strategy? Southampton probably. Could do with one more. Errrr....Leicester? Didn't they sell Mahrez and Maguire for big money? They'll do."

I read the i for which he writes every week.
His piece (masquerading as a match report) for LC v Spurs was simple off their website in its bias.
Kane's goal was described as 'magnificent' and our goals were, well, not mentioned.
Like all the others he sees just the big clubs, which they justify by their greater support, i.e. potential readers.
So they simply mirror life as it is in their eyes... that is peopled solely by the successful.

Let people think that we're poor down and outs who have to sell the family Silver every year to survive .... And, they won't be getting Slimani on the cheap off us either ...

We know differently though ... Don't we .....
