The latest proroguing is an as-per-usual and perfectly usual one of a few days. It is the hiatus between one session and another and is ended by a Queen’s Speech which sets out the government programme for the next session.

The one judged unlawful was for five weeks and was judged to be unlawful by the Supreme Court as there was no discernible or advanced lawful reason or justification for it to be of that length. The Court concluded that it was a cynical device to silence Parliament and was therefore unlawful.

Hope this helps.

For the Queens Speech, don't the PM and Leader of the opposition have to walk together between the Houses exchanging pleasantries, could be interesting. :)

What good did it do Daggers?

Well it means that a PM won't be allowed to prorogue parliament at some point in the future for say 5 years, hence us having a dictatorship.

Quite important I would have thought.
