We all know Solskjaer is out of his depth, we could all see it months ago. He will not last the season, he may well not last till December.

A year or less ago, they would have considered Pochettino for the role. As he’s also struggling this season he may have missed his chance.

Who else do they go for, and will they make a blind bit of difference?

Rashford says “United’s fans deserve better.”

Why do they deserve better? Why are they more deserving than any other teams fans?

Manchester United have eaten at the top table for a quarter of a century. The football landscape is changing and the greed of the bigger teams and their quest for more and more money from Sky TV etc has fuelled it.

Long may it continue.

I think Solskjær and Pochettino are doing fantastic jobs and should be immediately rewarded with extended contracts. Great watching 'em suffer ain't it?

I think it’s interesting that Chelsea seemingly are doing more than ok with Lampard. It’s early days but he’s got them playing and they’re scoring goals for fun especially away. Solskjaer will be gone by Xmas if this carries on. There’s obviously serious problems in the dressing room with too many egos on massive easy money. I think they’ll write off this season again and go for a big European manager next summer. It slightly concerns me that if we do really well this season they might go for BR. Would he go to a ‘big’ club? Not sure.

I texted a Man Utd-supporting mate yesterday to ask him how long he thinks they'll give Solskjaer. To my surprise he replied that they'll probably stick with him no matter what. "It's six years of terrible management and recruitment coming home to roost," he said. "They'll give him the chance to clear out and rebuild."

I'm not convinced, but I hope he's right...

the lead article on bbc sport last night was all about man utd.

there were LOADS of unattributed quotes from club insiders, so there is a PR job being done behind the scenes, trying to explain their strategy and summers activity, and why they are where they are.

i think the unsuccessful idea was to make us feel sorry for poor little olly.

While we all love to see united in the XXXXXXe, we all know what this scenario can lead to and also have a massive knock on affect on clubs like Leicester as Rodgers WILL be seen as a prime target as a replacement , with the Leicester’s young stars to follow if they can snare Rodgers to United, and obviously a horrendous scenario for us... BUT IS a real possibility..[sad]

Man Utd 60/1 to be relegated with SkyBet. We're 200/1

What a time to be alive.

60-1 you say? I fancy a tenner on that.

I don’t think any manager who knows the Premier League well would entertain going there as manager. Including Rodgers.

I've heard Brendans name mentioned on more than a few occasions recently for ManU job. Mostly on Talksport it has to be said. If you were in his position, and taking off the blue specs, would you do it? A massive club yes but what else is there? A much poorer squad but much higher expectations. Big egos to try and get in line or a squad seemingly happy and in unity? Exceptional owners or American leaches? A club clearly on the rise, with a new £100m training ground coming, or a club on a severe downward slope? There's a saying in investments that you should never try and catch a falling knife and I think that sums it up perfectly as to whether you should try and be the latest in the long line of failures.

When Sir Alex left his position it was the perfect scenario for a collapse his foundations were not what others would carry on with, obviously they wanted to stamp their views on the way forward, think of how that affected the team new tactics, new staff, new drawing board, all compounded the issue that now has come to fruition, the legacy he left was/is beyond the capabilities of a lot of coaches, his leadership gave huge amounts of confidence to players and their way of playing.
I know one man does not make a team but it gives confidence to even a limited player knowing that what he instilled was uplifting and rewarding to all staff.
