Firstly Liverpool have steamrollered all 3 other teams at Anfield this season. The relief on their faces was obvious as they knew they’d got out of jail. They aren’t one our direct rivals for the top 6 as they’ll be there anyway. So it wasn’t a disaster.
We’ve played 8 games of which 4 were against top 6 with 3 of those away. Think about it. We’ve already done SB, OT and Anfield and it’s early October. We’ve got 14 points already. At the start of the season with Wolves at home too, if we’d have been offered 14 points we’d have snapped their hands off. So we’re doing more than ok.
I don’t think we’re anywhere near our potential yet. We’ve been good in parts but there’s more to come.
HM going 6 days before the season started really made me think that top 6 is now going to be difficult whereas before I thought it was 50/50. Soyuncu has been a blôody revelation.
Our ‘rivals’ outside the top 6 have so far decided not to turn up. Everton? Forget it. Wolves, too many games and even West Ham have slipped up like yesterday.
Just like 2016 some of our top 6 rivals are in a mess. It’ll be difficult but I think even at this early stage we can say manure won’t feature this season. Spuds will no doubt come good again but intrinsically there’s no doubt they have internal problems. The Àrse have no defence which will hinder them and I believe our only real rivals Chelsea whilst still a decent side are finding their feet under a new manager.
Upwards and onwards I say and let’s have a bit of GTIF positivity. Just like we recovered from the Àrse result in 2016, I’m sure yesterday will just make us even more resolute

Can’t disagree LG but it’s still disappointing to only have 1 point from the Liverpool, Utd and Chelsea games as 3-6 points should have been our target.

We were unlucky yesterday but it’s not a match we would have expected to win.

Them three games were always going to be our most difficult fixtures in this run of games. We should of got three points out of them three games

Well said LG and we know we could have done better!
Add in Praet whose looking a class addition, think back two years ago when we played Silva and Iborra in midfield now we have Tielemans Maddison and Praet.Had it confirmed that Ziyech would have come in the summer but Rodgers chose Pérez.Senior Scout has better and cheaper replacements for Chilwell. We have £80 m in the bank for Maguire,£100 m training ground ready in June to help players to come, onwards and upwards

And after the latest result from the Etihad I think second is now up for grabs. It’s fine winning 8-0 and 5-0 but if you can’t beat Norwich and Wolves who 3 days earlier were in Istanbul then you’ve problems. Plus with Laporte injured until February, I believe they’re beatable if you have a go. I’m particularly now thinking League Cup

Keep on don’t you Daz, with your Man Utd is a difficult game line. How come no one else finds them difficult to play against with the clown they have at the wheel?

Remember how Claudio used to break games down into groups? Well we took 6 points from those last 4 games. Should have been at least 7. But the next 3 are as important. All winnable. These are the games we’ve struggled in recently but this has to change. All 3 opponents are doing more than ok so it won’t be easy. 7/9 points for me if we’re going to move forward. Remember Àrsenal haven’t played that well yet are a point ahead of us. The others will recover apart from manure who will be lucky to be in the top 10. Let’s see.
