This is a subject matter than interests me. Has done for years.

There can be no doubt that there are groups and people who make corrupt decisions for their own benefit. The only doubt is the activities of these groups and people and how much influence they exert on world and regional affairs.

Will have a look into this bloke, because I hadn't heard of him before.

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist."
Eisenhower Farewell Address 1961

So, by substituting Eisenhower's farewell address you've changed 'military/industrial complex' from Myron Fagan's 'the Jews', which on the face of it sounds rather racist, and not the sort of thing you ought to be espousing.

You ought to read 'The Prague Cemetery' by Umberto Eco, it's not his best book (though it's worth it for the illustrations alone), but it has a load of fun exposing all the myths of the eighteenth-century and holding them up for ridicule.

Or, if you don't fancy that, rewatch 'House Of Cards' (the American version). There is no need for the Illuminati, they are already here in the form of politicians, dictators and businessmen. I know it's fantasy, but not by very much.

Of course 'there can be no doubt that there are groups and people who make corrupt decisions for their own benefit'. Thank you for that profound insight. I wonder what we will do about that. I would guess nothing, other than moan about the fact that people who have more money than us can make a bigger contribution than us to the way the world works. Cheeky buggers, how dare they?.

I dare say you will applaud their decisions when they seem to you to be right, and deplore them when they seem to you to be wrong. What else can we do? Mankind is not a perfect species in the first place, and would appear to be heading in entirely the wrong direction with the advent of social media.

I know nothing about the Fagan character. Might even come to think he is a complete nut.

But I do strongly believe that there is a military/industrial complex - and I think they have lobbied for and provoked war; past, present and future.

Which is a bit worse than being cheeky buggers. That makes them murderous and evil. But I guess you're right. Shouldn't worry about it, eh?

Shouldn't worry too much about the agenda of those in leadership, who are the most vigorous in their support for Brexit. Because they are only doing so for "the people" and not themselves...

Icke has seriously lost the plot.

Though to his credit; he is making a tidy packet from a combination of "New Age" and conspiracy theories - and the ability to orate.

I wonder if he really, truly believes in everything he says and writes?

I don't really like the term 'military/industrial complex' because it seems to me rather simplistic. Nevertheless, Werner von Braun perfected the V2 under the orders of Hitler and went on to have a major role in the moon landings rather than go on trial at Nuremberg. Makes you think.

There's definitely a lot of money to be made out of war - only war started before there was any 'military/industrial complex'. Nothing drives progress more than war, sadly enough. It means that a lot of civilians and soldiers have to die rather than fat-cat industrialists, but nobody really cares about that until it affects them, because there's only so much attention you can pay.
