In the running for manager vacancy at Sporting Lisbon.
They've shafted us at least twice.
Revenge?

I'll stick to what I've been saying for a while: Puel has left us in a much better state than he found us in.

It hasn't worked out for him here, and his sacking was the right choice at the time. He did some important restructuring though and there is no reason for me to wish him or anybody else associated with him any bad luck.

Yeah - like deliberately not playing Vardy?
Vardy didn't call him a diickhead for no reason.
Like chucking cup games away?
Like boring the pants off us all?

Vardy was bang out of form and missing chances then that he is taking now. He hadn't pressed for the best part of 2 seasons at that point unless it was a televised game against a top 6 club. Injury possibly but certainly wasn't or should've been considered untouchable at that point in the season.

He didn't call him a dickhead.

Not totally convinced we had a best 11 last season through the transition - nor the season before.....the result of which means that nobody stood out. The Chelsea game contained the same team Rodgers would've loved to pick give or take a player or two!

Have you watched many games under Rodgers? Its not been much different in terms of the build up.

He did refer to him as a diickhead (or similar) at the end of a game and for his pains he was dropped the following week.
I have seen at least 10 games under Rodgers. The Wolves game at start of this season was boring.
But not the rest.

i've always thought that whoever got the job after shakespeare would have been given the exact remit that puel was given. so how much credit do we give him for doing as he was told? sure it could have been done worse, but it could also have been done better.

transfers were always a mix of 'club' signings (e.g. maddison, soyunchu) and puel signings (e.g. diabate, ghezzel). i'd argue the only good signing that could be a puel one is ricardo.

i think his legacy will be debated similar to pearsons.

Tielemans?

Adumass: Are you sure the signings can be cleanly divided into "club" and "Puel" signings, as you suggest? And how do we know who was instrumental in signing said players?

PS: not doubting anything you say. Just want to understand.

Think it's certain that he was behind Diabate and Deidre signing. Linked in the past to him?

swabianfox - pure speculation on my part.

i think diabate played with puels son, i'm sure that was reported at the time, that he was signed on a tip off from his son.
and ricardo and ghezzel both played for puel before.

Adumass - now you're saying it I remember what was being reported about Puel's son. The reports can still be found (see link below).

That one certainly didn't come off, and neither did the Ghezzal move.

Maybe Puel's transfer record is more chequered than I believed? On transfermarket.com you can find the complete list who came in during his tenure:

James Maddison
Ricardo Pereira
Caglar Söyüncü
Filip Benkovic
Danny Ward
Rachid Ghezzal
Jonny Evans
Fousseni Diabaté

I admit I'm not privy at all to who instigated what but at least some of those players don't look half bad now.

Harwich/Soho Vardy wasn't playing well so he dropped him on a couple occasions. If you don't perform you get dropped. Simple fact of football, no one is undroppable.

Puel is totally unfit to manage any football team whatsoever.
His motivational skills - which I would have thought were an essential requirement for a football manager - are non-existent.
The only career I could possible envisage him doing well at might be as a funeral director.
