Can’t see what all the fuss is about at 50p per day
Everyone should be able to afford this
Next we should call time on free bus passes
Over 65 should get a concession on the fares[:D]

We shouldn't forget the government forced the hand of the BBC over this licence fee issue.

Just to show that we are "all in it together"; BJs tax plans (bribe) would hand MPs and extra £6k per year.

Free bus passes stopped for most.
Heating Allowances stopped for over 60 a long time ago.
State Pension for women born in the 1950s aged 60 increased to 66, men also increased.
It is not just about TV is it. But Boris wants to increase allowances, which would give MPs a extra £3000 a year,to add to all the other extras and perks. Taking the p**s i would say

It is a witch hunt against the generation, that have paid into the system for much of their lives. The generation that did not have the luxury of modern day benefits to increase their income. The generation that would not usually create a fuss, easy targets.

Free bus passes stopped for most. - No one uses busses anymore pensioners all have Kia Piccantos that only do 40mph
Heating Allowances stopped for over 60 a long time ago.- Increase in Pensions to compensate
State Pension for women born in the 1950s aged 60 increased to 66, men also increased. - Women wanted equality and we're all living longer
It is not just about TV is it. But Boris wants to increase allowances, which would give MPs a extra £3000 a year,to add to all the other extras and perks. Taking the p**s i would say - You are correct, don't take too much notice of Boris, it'll be a lot different IF he gets in and has to deal with the economics

A lot of people on this boards view of life will change dramatically when they get the letter from the pension board telling them how much they are expected to live on .

Kendal. Only trying to help here. Carers Allowance isn't stopped if the person you care for is over 65 years old.

It is means tested on whether the person cared for is getting DLA, PIP, Attendance Allowance and the carer spends at least 35 hours per week looking after someone and doesn't earn more than £123 per week after tax.

Anybody that needs to be looked after for such a long period, should be entitled to Attendance Allowance.

The unfair bit is the maximum earnings ceiling to qualify for Carers Allowance. £124 per week ain't much to live on.

Sixthswan I know I'm cutting my nose off to spite my face but I have the A.A document and it is the most intrusive piece of paperwork I have had my misfortune to read from any Government dept. and I have not filled it in as I was disgusted and appalled by its questioning.

Fowlpen - I'm not suggesting that the state pension is adequate or come to that the private pension I've been paying into for 40 years. And I have to work until I'm 67!!

By the time electric has gone up 500% to cover the tax lost on petrol and we only get power every other day because we can't generate enough to charge all the cars, telly's will be useless anyway.

Kendal, all forms are like that. They have the multiple choice options that get you to say what you don't want to say, on the basis that any other option is worse. I would bring a reliable friend in to help you complete it, otherwise you'll go mad and not claim everything you're entitled to - which is presumably the point.

also, loads of charities will help with the completion of that bloody form.

yes it can feel degrading, but treat it as a necessary evil, get it done, and get the money you are entitled to.
