Farage is right in the middle of the filth who created Brexit, even though he has milked (and we are talking millions) the EU for his own purposes for years.

A greasy, unlikable and deluded individual who earns 90k per year as an MEP and had that halved after being found to have misspent EU funds. He would also be due a huge monthly payment for two years, if we leave the EU.

Must be loving life...

Yes, thank goodness for that.

Hates EU - so becomes an MEP

Hates MPs - because he always fails to become one

Hates the elite - even though he is part of it

Hates the way taxpayers money is used - but avoids paying tax with various schemes

Hates the idea of foreigners moving next door to him - even though he has a French name, German wife and children who speak fluent German and hold German passports - and he is in favour of gun ownership in the UK.

Why would they sweep the board?
The original vote was 51.9 to 48.1
That was three years ago, many remainers have since died and a big majority of those now eligible to vote will be pro EU.
Remainers are just as likely to vote in large numbers as leavers.

Failing to vote for anyway to leave the EU (because that's what your constituents voted for)?
Voting to leave the EU even though you believe your constituents will suffer?

Members of the House of Commons hold, in effect, a triple mandate. They represent all the people of their constituency, their party and the interests of the country. It is a tenet of representative democracy that MPs are not delegates for their constituents. This means that, while the views of constituents are frequently considered, the actions of MPs are governed by their determination of the best interests of their constituency, their party and the country as a whole.

"The first duty of a member of Parliament is to do what he thinks in his faithful and disinterested judgement is right and necessary for the honour and safety of Great Britain.

His second duty is to his constituents, of whom he is the representative but not the delegate. Burke's famous declaration on this subject is well known.

It is only in the third place that his duty to party organisation or programme takes rank.

All these three loyalties should be observed, but there in no doubt of the order in which they stand under any healthy manifestation of democracy."

So, rightly or wrongly, these elections are being seen as a litmus test, for the up to date opinion of the electorate, on leaving. People will be voting who would not have otherwise, on the grounds of pro/anti Brexit. Take the snotters in Anna Soubry’s manor, if a Brexit party candidate wins there, and in enough other constituencies to form the majority of representatives in the EU, would you except that a majority have not seen the error of their ways, or died, and the result of the democratic referendum should stand?

Thats extremely lame by your standards Sixy! Its tactical voting. Anyway, no one is campaigning for an end to the union, just our membership of it. Do I take it, from your evasive repost, that you agree with this theory? Remember, it is likely that many leavers will not vote, as they believe that their vote has already been marginalised. Therefore, if a Brexit Party “win”,were to happen, however unlikely , it would be a crushing rejection of remain. ,

No I don't accept your hypothesis.

Many Leavers are likely to vote, so therefore the Brexit Party are likely to do comparatively well.

You could argue that Remainers will be unlikely to vote; because the government is already committed to us leaving the EU.

At present the polls (I know they get it wrong) have Labour well ahead and the Brexit Party and UKIP tied around 15%.

If the Brexit Party were to win, they will love the salary and might even get some sort of pay-off if we leave the UK.

Win-win for them.

It is early days. Who knows - perhaps enough people won't be able to see Farage for what he is...

I suspect all that his new party will do is to split the Brexiteer vote between itself and UKIP.

At present, those two parties would take 30% of the vote...and win.

I guess the two parties reflect the Brexiteer votes. UKIP for the increasingly far-right voter. Brexit Party for those closer to the centre.

Many Remainers will vote, as they believe Brexit is running out of steam (and they're right), and they want to practise getting their votes in for the second referendum.

They've realised that all the problems we had with the EU are just smoke and mirrors and leaving would cause 95% of employment to just cease to exist and mean death for most single mothers, children and pets. They'll probably also vote Corbyn in at the next election, and spend the next five years blaming Brexit for the consequences of that.

'Farage is right in the middle of the filth who created Brexit, even though he has milked (and we are talking millions) the EU for his own purposes for years'

You say 'filth' Sixthswan, is that a generic statement regarding any person with influence that wanted us to leave the EU ?

Also I don't get the bit about Farage milking the EU for his own purposes. Farage is rightfully allowed to take a seat in the EU, and he has campaigned for 20 odd years for us to leave EU. I don't see anything confusing about what his mandate is.
Nobody though is asking you to agree with his policies (clearly you don't)
Regarding him hating MP's 'because he always fails to become one' then perhaps its no surprise that he has failed as an MP when you find that a Tory activist was given a suspended jail sentence for breaking election campain rules. In the Thanet seat contested by Farage, Marion Little spent more than double the allowed 52k in that constituency solely to destroy Farages career.
When your dislike of a person is complete, then people tend to be more blinkered if something does not fit their beliefs.

YLR, the thread demonstrates nothing about Farage, its more like the predictable view from those on the losing side of the referendum.

The Tories had to break the law and cheat in order to stop Farage winning the Thanet seat? It was a serious enough crime for the judge to pass a suspended custodial sentence.

Regarding Farage destroying his own career ? Have I missed something ? Does he have a twin brother who is currently at the top of the opinion polls for the EU election ?

Laughing at him in Brussels, my buckin ar$e are they, more like choking on their $hitty Euro's at the prospect of him still being a massive pain in their posterior.

If you don't like someone, you can usually find a load of low-hanging fruit to pluck and show as good reasons as to why the person is a caaant.

I think some of you are missing something though. And it's central to the reason we have the current mess.

For decades, if you wanted the UK to leave the EU, who could you vote for at a general election? Irrespective of your usual alliance, all the big parties were going to keep you in.

So our political system kept you locked in, with no voice or vehicle to get you out. If we had a different system, then I'm sure an anti-EU party would have been formed and it would have been in Westminster.

So, go back 20 odd years, and you decide you don't want to accept it any more and that you do want to make a political impact on the subject what do you do? The logical thing I suppose, get elected to the EU and try to build from there.

Like him or loath him, he's got more balls and get up and go than the rest of us.

*edited to add. Of course, he could have decided to do nothing and say nothing all those years ago, for fear that one day someone might call him a hypocrite. Probably should've bankrupted himself over the last 27 years. That'd have helped.
