Non league clubs throughout the country are encouraged to go as high up the pyramid as possible.
The problem is the higher you go, the more expensive it becomes with travel etc and you can't expect players to have time off work to travel for a long distance evening away game without being compensated.
Sponsors generally like helping youth football rather than the senior game.
I believe that Anstey Nomads have someone who puts a few quid in the club, but he insists that is does not go on players, just ground and facilities improvements.
It would be a shame if Oadby folded but they won't be the first, remember, Wigston Fields, Leicester Utd, Hillcroft, Newfoundpool, Hinckley Town, Loughborough Brush etc etc

The donation deadline passed three and a half hours ago, at which point they were 9,820 short of their 10,000 target.

I stand corrected Micky.

I suppose higher up the non league ladder we have to look no further than Nuneaton Borough Mk1, Kettering Town Mk1, Atherstone Mk1, AP Leamington etc

My own view is that a club like Burton Albion are 1 in a 1000, and smaller non league clubs like Oadby Town are better playing locally and within their finances.

John, I read in the Non-League Paper the other week that 140 clubs in England have folded in the past 24 months

Thats about right John Mitten, sounds like they over reached. I know who owns the place and hes a decent bloke but a business man when all done and said and OTFC's problems are not his doing.

Local football clubs need to get back to being local
Forget the aspirations of being the next Salford United
Play for the love of the game if you think you are good enough to be paid , find a club that can afford it[:D]
