Deffo. He'll have a lot less time and space in the Prem.

I fear it is crafty. Quick feet but no pace and made to look good by the poor quality of football in the championship.

If he continues to have a good season there, does it in the pressure games later in the season, gets promoted and comes back with his confidence sky high, Puel is certain to take a very good look at him if he's still here next summer.
Puel would have given Lawrence a chance too, I reckon.

Suppose you all knew Maddison would struggle with the step up to the Prem aswell. [rle]

well said Essington been talking about Barnes and Benkovic for a while now, but same old same old got no pace will struggle with the step up, if you are good enough you soon get to the pace of it all and the toughness that goes with it.

kendall. The voice of reason and experience.
We all sometimes forget how old these kids are. Barnes turns 21 this week. His scoring ratio at West Brom is 8 goals and 3 assists from just 17 games. Heís not a striker. Those stats are very good. Of course the championship isnít the PL but then nor is League 1 in France where weíve picked up Mendy, Ghazzel and Riyad for example.
Give Barnes the whole season there. WBA will be up there at the end and that means pressure. I believe heíll turn out to be a very good player.

The thing is Kendal, how soon? It took Chilwell over a year to start looking at home, so if that process is started too early it can damage a career before it's started.
I just think Barnes is best where he is for the season, but I'm fascinated to see what happens next season. I even watched the WBA game last night!

The best players in the championship are a better bet in the premier league than some of the dross we have signed.Maddison proof of that,Sessegnon at Fulham,Dunk at Brighton etc

I wonder what the total cost of Slimani and Silva has actually been and what we could recoup?

Guildford. I agree. I always think that youíre taking a chance in Europe especially when the PL is so different. It also doesnít seem to matter what you pay. Some fit in. Most donít. Morata at Chelsea? £62M. Bailly and Lindehof at manure. You have to be so careful

Is that the same Sessegnon who was pulled off at half time at Chelsea? The same player that after 13 games has made little or no impression at all on the Premier League.

1 goal every 4 games in the Championship.
1 goal in 13 in the Prem.

The quality of the football in the Championship is far from 'poor'.
In fact it has closed up on the Prem in recent years which is why getting promoted no longer means a relegated tag from the first game.
Speaking as a fan who saw us woefully unprepared for the top flight twice.

We do not look to often at lower league football where only to my mind, gems can be found, you can if you are prepared to watch and continue to watch and see development, sign and nurture that talent it can bring out the best in players, but because like everything else today, we want it now, and cannot wait we, and others lose a hell of a lot of money on so-called foreign players and we lose out when talent escapes abroad to persue their aims, anyway if European laws come into place we will need home grown talent even more in the future

Lawrence was repeatedly man of the match in his spell at Ipswich.
Let us not forget that we wanted to keep Lawrence and give him a try. It was the player who decided that he would be better off staying in the Championship with Derby. Would he have stayed if Puel was manager, and promoting youth talent? Who knows.

Sessegnon has 1 goal and three assists doing as well as our full backs.
Any team that is in the top three of the championship must have one or two players capable of cutting it in the Prem.Im sure weíll see tonight not a lot of difference between us and Fulham.Yes there are players overseas who are capable of making a huge impression but At least with UK based there is no settling in period require no language barriers and they are used to the physicality
