He will keep a low profile for a few weeks and be back reporting from Wembley when England play the USA as if nothing had happened.
Don't think we will see him at The KP in the near future.

So basically the BBC condone what he said. This isn’t some thick t055er who made these comments. This is a Cambridge graduate on a 6 figure salary.

Dan has apologised for his ill-judged comments in a private off-air conversation with a colleague from another broadcaster. We fully understand the sensitivity of the situation and Dan is genuinely sorry for any hurt and upset caused.

1). No BBC. You don’t fully understand the sensitivity one iota or you’d have sacked him. He’s got previous as well and apparently someone high up in your organisation warned him beforehand. He TOTALLY ignored that warning.

2). So Dan is ‘genuinely’ sorry. Really. Easiest thing in the world to say after the event. Means nothing. Has he apologised to the family? I doubt it. He should have reaped what he sowed. Well done BBC.

So its ok in the world of the BBC to insult a dead owner of Leicester City but god forbid you insult a BBC employee on a Top Gear shoot.

I've gone back to them saying I had already seen his apology, what I want to know is what the BBC think about it and what action if any they took

Dan Roan wouldn't understand sensitivity if it could personify and explain itself to him.

I saw the clip, so when you all return for a second chip at Auntie, perhaps you could firmly tell them that far from 'his ill-judged comments' being 'in a private off-air conversation with a colleague from another broadcaster' they were aimed at a middle-aged supporter whom had come to pay his respects and was clearly squirming with embarrassment at the revelation. This poor chap just didn't know what to say so stood with a shoulder shrug and an apologetic smile on his face. Despite this obvious discomfort, still Roan went on inviting the man to speak.

Furthermore these comments and questions were delivered with gratuitous glee. He was enjoying himself.

As for being 'genuinely sorry for any hurt and upset caused', how can one be at all sorry for hurt and upset which has been caused deliberately?

I have a theory on this matter. Given Roan's unpopularity within his peer ranks and road crews, I think he was being stitched up á la Keyes & Gray by the sound recordist and cameraman, but their efforts seem to have failed back at HO where the mandarins have stood by their man, deciding that a simple apology is fine. They patently don't think it will be taken further by the likes of us or LCFC. Are they right?

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vichai hadn't even been formally identified, let alone confirmed as passed away; when Roan made the comments.

But that is a matter of conscience for Roan to consider.

His professional integrity is severely negated by this episode.

To gossip about the relationship between Vichai and Nusara, so soon after their death was disgusting.

To not even check the apparent evidence that Nusara self-identified as being attracted to women, shows incompetence.

To do all this, surrounded by grieving people. It's just grim.

Bruin. You make some very apt points. I reckon when all this has calmed down at our club in a few weeks, then the Srivaddhanaprabha family and/or King Power will deal with this in their own calm usual manner.
My only hope is that by then the BBC will have handled the matter themselves appropriately although I personally doubt it.

PS Bruin. I’ve left my details with Mrs Bruin.

I agree that the club should allow a decent interval and then start putting the screws on the BBC to issue a proper and fitting apology.Folk will remember how Ferguson refused to give interviews to MOTD because he was peeved at the BBC coverage of his son. This issue is about our Club, it is not personal issue as with Ferguson. Happy to leave with Top and SW to sort out but I doubt if they will forget Roan's behaviour in a hurry.

Disgraceful response from the BBC trying to make excuses makes it worse, wasn’t private it was 3 yards from the memorial.
Are we really surprised though as the bbc is an organisation that supports paedophilles?
We should put a statement as a club out in a few weeks that the club are no longer doing any interviews with the bbc and that includes Radio Leicester

The club can't refuse to conduct interviews with a broadcaster, so that's a non-starter. It would also be counter-productive.

Roan's XXXXXXic comments have received fairly wide coverage and he will be remembered for them. I think on this occasion the most dignified and eloquent thing to do would be for the club to keep its counsel and let others decide what they think of Dan Roan.

Clapham would you like to explain your non starter argument when Ferguson refused to give interviews with the BBC for years because of a personal gripe. It would be perfectly justifiable to be selective e.g giving interviews to Stringer but not MOTD.

A rule has been brought in since Ferguson that obliges managers to talk to broadcasters. They can’t get out of it. But more importantly I think such an act would introduce an unnecessary note of petulance and aggression at a time when we should be rising above idiotic off-camera moments like those that Roan came out with.
