He was always looking for an investor to lighten the financial load at Leicester.

I'd love to know who approached who first?

I'm sure I read somewhere that the MOF approached King Power about sponsoring us, Vichai came over and whilst looking around asked if the club was for sale and the MOF said yes.

The rest as they say.

Sheer nonsense. He was like a benefit cheat who lied about his outlay, then claimed back every undeserving penny from the state but in our case it was + a few phantom million which he had managed cook up.

He used one, or maybe two agents to buy players; people he'd 'worked with' before. The euphemism suggests the reality - that they conspired to buy shilo at inflated prices, pay the agents over-inflated commission rates; share out the millions which they had put through the books, then add all that as a legitimate expense to the final sale price.

He would have sold us down the river to anyone - absolutely anyone (SISU included) who came up with the readies, just like he did Pompey. Mind you, it serves them right.

But don't ever believe that he had LCFC's best interests at heart when he cashed in. He thought King Power were suckers.

One of the most horrible men in football, typical of the 'rape-the-club' genre, and symptomatic of the diseased ownership thinking which has plundered many English clubs to the tune of perhaps billions of OUR (supporters of so many teams') cash.

How could you possibly compare a wonderful man whose altruism has forged a success from the brink of disaster to Looney Tunes' serial mismanagement and devotion to greed?

Bonkers.

The Birch did a piece on the state of the club before the Thais turned up he said the club was living day to day the training ground was in need of a refurbishment and no milk for a cup of tea nevermind a real canteen.
The club was on its knees and the MOF even sent him on the road to find a buyer, the Thais overpaid for the club and spent big time on the stadium and training ground to create a winning attitude.

Two skips of club artifacts were ready for the tip on the order of the MOF. The artifacts were rescued by a friend of this forum who received a phone call from a distraught member of staff, they rescued everything and hid them away in the gunnels of the then Walkers Stadium so the MOF didn't destroy our heritage. The MOF was a complete cnut

Those items were hidden in a little room not far from the home dressing room, behind lock and key, i went in there ..... City fans, current and ex-players, along with members of the public, had donated these items because the club had planned to have a Museum ... When prople contacted the club concerning the items they had donated, the club ignored them, or said they had no idea where anything was .....

John Hutchinson, the Club Historian has digitised thousands of items of memorabilia. I'm sure plenty of physical stuff is safely stored too.

The plans for the stadium expansion included a new club museum, in a dedicated separate building outside the ground.

From what I can remember, the site of the helicopter crash is right where a new hotel was going to be built. I seem to remember that the museum was going to be close by.

I mention these things in past tense, because the recent tragic events will surely have an impact on what was being planned.

Hopefully the club museum will remain in future plans?

That's fascinating stuff Micky.

The new museum holds more interest for me than the stadium expansion.

The only good thing about Mandaric, was that things turned out all right in the end.

Just under 10 years after he took over, we were Premier League champions. But that was by luck or fate, rather than any planning on his behalf.

His buying and selling of Leicester City was totally for his financial benefit. Any other side effect was incidental.

I think of MM in the same way I think of Watford beating us in the SF playoff. It worked to our favour in the long run, but that was entirely coincidental.
