Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has admitted to his disappointment after watching a lacklustre display from his players during the 0-0 draw with Ayr United in the Scottish Cup.

In what should have been a no-contest, the home side struggled to find any fluency throughout the 90 minutes and turned in another performance which left the fans disgusted by their efforts.

Calderwood, speaking to Hibernian TV said ""There is some fairness in football when that happens; what you don't want is a good performance and the result going against you.

"So we understand why and we know the reasons why; we didn't play with enough vigour or enough quality to conjure the first goal.

"Tremendous credit to their organization; I felt they organized themselves well and played the clock well.

"So I give Ayr credit, but that doesn't take away from what was a very disappointing performance that we have produced today."

Hibees were once more booed off the park after the display which saw Hibs fortunate to still be in the competition after Mark Brown saved a late effort from United's Andy Rodgers.
