Suspended Disqualification for Russia

So Russia have been given Suspended Disqualification and 120k fine. Furthermore it only actually refers to any trouble inside the stadium!

I just can't see how Russia have got away without anything more serious here. A 120k fine is a joke. Russia must be one of the richest associations and this is in no way going to force them into doing anything about their hooligan element.

This was not a bunch of idiots drunk and getting in to a bunch of fights then things escalated with patio furniture being thrown. This was highly organised and planned trouble inside of a stadium, as well as out side of it. Not only was it organised, it was brutal to the extreme. For me what Russia have done is a totally different thing. Much much worse.

UEFA had already come out and threatened both clubs with being disqualified, and this basically is nothing other than another more formal threat. Since England do not have this formal threat does this mean England have a 'hall pass' to have one more go back at the Russians without being immediately disqualified? I am of course not advocating this, but this is certainly one message that certain England fans might take from this. You're allowed one kind of disturbance like this, un-punished.

The whole thing stinks really.

I think I also read that they had already had some sort of suspended punishment during qualifying, and fans had been banned from games in qualifying due to crowd disturbances. My understanding was that the England game was the first game after this suspended ban was finished. Russian teams have also been reprimanded by UEFA in a number of European games this year and in many previous years for exactly the same kind of trouble. It's a wonder what it would take for them to actually be kicked out.

I think most people expected England vs Wales to be the more fiesty match and I can imagine many hoolies were readying themselves for some trouble in this match. I could see a few scenarios occurring here. Wales fans having a pop at England fans in the knowledge that England fans will not want to get involved.

Looking at the potential for trouble in both the England vs Wales, and the Wales vs Russia games it's giving 'group of death' a new meaning!

And to think they will have the WC in Russia in 2 years time! I can see many English hooligans wanting revenge for this as they have definitely 'got away with it' here. It's a sad day for football and doesn't look for for the next couple of years IMO.

This is more than hooliganism. Russia will be aware that there are moves to boycott the world cup. They have put a marker down. If they provoke more action from England fans in Lille will both countries be banned? How tough will any of the action from FIFA be? We know the words but they are testing the resolve and making clear just how strong their position is. Certainly sad for football and more besides.

They should have a hoolie tournament where hooligans from different nations are given the opportunity to beat the fck out of each other in special arenas (these arenas could have lots of glass bottles and tables and chairs available to use as weapons, and could even have tear gas dispensers built into them). This way innocent people wouldn't get caught up in the trouble, the football wouldn't suffer, and we'd be able to have European and World Hooligan Champions.

I have a similar idea regarding the use of performance enhancing drugs; just add a Drugged-up Olympics to run alongside the normal Olympics and Paralympics....

Could well be orchestrated by Russia; the same Russia that wants the UK out of the EU because it will weaken the EU and, if you simply think it's because I've lost my marbles, think again.

Buddha, just to clarify before I come out against or in favour of your idea, would there be qualifying tournaments? Two legged hooligan ties?

"The home teams will be drawn by Derek Acorah who will be channelling the ghost of Paul Scarrott whilst the away teams will be drawn by Cas Pennant".

Surely Derek will be channeling the spirit of his mate "Sam"?

And I expect it all to be two legged unless you want a paralympics for one legged hooligans [;)]

Would the 'home' nation get automatic qualification? Also Wayne, if we are so important to the EU why have they shat on us for years?

It might be two legged until the Russians arrive and cut some of the English's off.

I have to admit, this isn't the direction I saw this post going lol

I should think the Russians will have a big enough brown envelope to avoid ant real problems.

Personally, looking at the size of the Russians, I reckon they'd get banned for use of illegal substances. We'll be ok as Stella will not be on the list of illegal substances[B)]

Stella should be illegal given the amount of violent crime that involves its use.

Anyone planning a trip to the 2018 World Cup? [:D][:D][:D] I'd rather go to Aldershot again !!!

According to one Russian official, there was no trouble at the end of the match, the English fans just got up and ran away. FFS.

I admit I have been know to rush to the Gordon Road chippy at the final whistle on occasions.

So will there be a performance enhancing drug takers hooligan version of the tournament?

I have always wondered why recreational drugs are banned. If anybody can manage to win a medal at the Olympics while on Ketamine then they deserve all the plaudits they get.

Is suspended disqualification worse than double secret probation?

Before you get into the international scene it will need knockouts at national level.

Could anybody apply to be in the teams, or would you have to be headhunted?

Those Russians will contain soldiers. Just like happened in the friendly annexation of the Crimea.

Bad news for some of you on here hoping to compete - Ritalin has been classed as a prohibitive substance.
