England celebrated a convincing 4-0 win over Denmark in an international friendly as preparation for this summer’s European Under 21 Championship.

Goals from Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge, Scott Sinclair and Jordan Henderson saw Stuart Pearce’s men secure the win.

The game was unfortunately marred by an injury to Micah Richards as he was hauled off after just 5 minutes with a hamstring problem. It's been revealed that the injury will mean four weeks on the sideline for the Manchester City youngster.

Villareal striker Nicki Nielsen threatened the England goal in the opening stages, but goalkeeper Alex McCarthy made some comfortable saves.

Sturridge and Welbeck were causing havoc early on in the first half and the reward came when England went 1-0 ahead.

A poor clearance by Denmark defender Michael Lumb landed at Welbeck’s feet and he had the task of driving a fierce left footed effort into the goal to provide a stunning spectacle for the away support.

Midfielder Emil Lyng tested Alex McCarthy late in the first half but had no luck getting past the England stopper.

The first half started positively for England as they increased their lead.

First of all, Scott Sinclair tapped in a rebound from a Daniel Sturridge shot parried by Denmark 'keeper Lossi.

Secondly, the provider turned the scorer as he controlled Scott Sinclair’s pass before cutting his run inside and shooting home.

Jordan Henderson completed the rout as a long ball from Kyle Naughton was superbly controlled before being sent home by the Sunderland midfielder.

England will face Iceland in their final warm-up friendly before the summer’s tournament at Preston’s Deepdale.
