Despite already qualifying for the semi-finals of the European Under-21s Championships with a game to spare, Stuart Pearce’s side will be aiming to make it three wins out of three in the group stage, with a victory over old rivals Germany.

“England against Germany is a massive match and we are going to attempt to win. Every time those two countries play there is a lot on it,” Pearce told the BBC. Article continues below

“You get judged on whether you win, lose or draw when you wear your international jersey,” he added, showing no signs of taking things easy for the final group game.

England have already qualified for the last four, but a draw or more would ensure that we top the group, and a victory could knock our rivals out of the competition. Each of these should be sufficient motivation for Pearce’s youngsters, but more importantly perhaps, the game will be another opportunity to maintain or even pick up on the intensity of the previous two matches.

“I don't know if I will rest players. In these tournaments, if you take your foot off the gas it's fatal. You never pick up the tempo again,” said Pearce.

England were poor against Finland, and were lucky to secure all three points. The performance against Spain, however, was much more impressive. But we can’t afford to rest on our laurels.

“It's a million miles from being a success at the moment,” Psycho added.

Though, if we continue our 100% record, then we would have to be the team to be feared, and this could be a major psychological advantage going into the latter stages of the competition.

Should Pearce rest players after all, or go for it with all guns blazing?
