Escape to Victory.

 Simply called "Victory" in the Unite States it's hard to believe that this film is 28 years old. Released in 1981 it tells the story of Allied POW's plans to escape from Nazi-occupied Paris where they are to play The German National side in a propaganda stunt organised by the Germans.
While the German Propaganda machine is in full swing the French Resistance and British officers have other idea's and are making plans for the team's escape.
Has anyone ever noticed how come there are so many Ipswich players in the film?
Bobby Robson gave the answer in his Autobiography

"...a film person came and asked the squad if they wanted to be in a film. It would mean early starts, long days filming and getting a wartime short haircut.
"Does anyone want to do it? If so please raise your hand."
No volunteers
"Who's in it?" the players asked
"Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine"
The players fell about with laughter.
"Who are you getting to do the football scenes, have you got any other players signed up yet?" asked Bobby Robson.
Film bloke looks at his clipboard and says;
"Er...yeah. Pele and Bobby Moore"
Immediately all the players put their hand up. "

Forget the plot holes and how ridiculous the whole idea is, just go with the flow and enjoy this wonderful classic film directed by the great John Huston.
