Bostocks Cup.

Bostocks Cup was a one off comedy drama shown on British television on the 25th May 1999. Written by Chris England, (who's other works includes "An Evening with Gary Lineker,") is one of the, if not THE funniest football related films ever to grace our screens.

Somehow, Bostock Stanley managed to win the FA Cup in 1974 and now, 25 years later, the players and backroom staff gather for the first time to celebrate their famous victory through film footage for a documentary made at the time.
This opens up old scars with an opportunity to settle some old scores. It's easy to see where Mike Bassett got it's inspiration from as we watch the manager's side kick repeat the instructions given out and we see Tonka (played by Nick Hancock) knocking seven bells out of everyone and everthing.
The sloping pitch is an absolute delight and the rather dodgy Physio will have you squirming while you laugh. The final is played out using footage from the 1973 FA Cup final between Leeds United and Sunderland.

Never released on video or DVD and never repeated on television this fly on the wall spoof documentary has become a cult classic amongst football fans who have been lucky enough to see it.
