Coventry v Barnsley match preview.

After little movement inwards in the transfer window the Sky Blues hope they can put their troubles behind them at the Ricoh Arena against the Tykes. Barnsley are one of the few teams with a poor record against the Sky Blues so Barnsley at home is a game Coventry would hope to get a result from and stop the rot. If not stop the rot at least replace some of the dead wood... sorry, we done that a couple of days ago...

You have to go back 10 years to the 1997-98 season when the Tykes last beat the Sky Blues , Coventry going down 1-0 at Barnsley. Apart from a 1-1 draw at Barnsley in 2001 the Sky Blues have come out victors, recording a couple of 4-1's and a 4-0.

The last time the two sides met was a sunny August day at Oakwell at the start of the season, where once again, the Sky Blue Army started the season full of hope. That hope was bolstered by a fine display and a 4-1 victory. Could this be our year we asked ourselves?
Six months on and it's back to reality. Sitting a couple of places above relegation and wondering where our next point is coming from.

With new signings Fox and Dann and rumours of a new keeper on loan this may be the kickstart the Club needs to begin the move forward. It is hoped the Sky Blue faithful can put behind them the on off transfer saga of Leon Best and get behind the team at a time the team needs all the support it can get. We have read in recent days how the booing of Kyle affected him, it's time to move on now and give Leon Best our full support while he wears the Sky Blue shirt.

Barnsley sit mid table 5 points above the Sky Blues, with former loanee Jon Macken returning on a permanent deal from Premiership strugglers Derby County the Tykes have been busy in the January transfer window with Diego Leon, Tininho, Keeper Tony Warner, Lewin Nyatanga and Brazilian midfielder Anderson de Silva all moving to the club either on loan or permanent signings.

Barnsley look a different side to the one who went down 4-1 so easily at Oakwell at the start of the season and the Sky Blues will find this Barnsley team a different prospect. New boy Dann is expected to start and Fox is expected to be given his home debut if fully recovered from the injury he picked up at Hull mid week.
