We are taking 33,000 fans to Wembley on Sunday and yet only 12,000 ( at best ) turned up to watch The Bluebirds play Southamprton on Saturday afternoon. The game was won by a Paul Parry strike early in the first half but many fans were embarrassed by the empty seats and being outsunf by the visiting support which must have been nearly 1,000.

We are obviously not as big as we think we are and the attendance must have sent a strong and depressing message to the board. We are still hunting a play off place and yet the ground is barely half full!

The M4 will be blue and white on Sunday but the crowd for the game on Tuesday night will be very interesting....

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones speaking after thae game said : "It was important to get the three points as we didn't play as well as we can do. We probably enjoyed the clearer chance but Southampton are fighting for their lives and made it difficult for us. Our 'keeper Peter Enckelman had little to do but Southampton tried to nullify our strengths by sitting five across the midfield to make it hard for us to play free-flowing football."

The CCFC line up: Enckelman, Capaldi, Loovens, Johnson, Ramsey, Rae, Whittingham (Sinclair 70), McPhail, Ledley, Thompson (Scimeca 90), Parry.
Subs Not Used: Oakes, Purse, Feeney.

Goals: Parry 6.

Southampton: Richard Wright, Thomas, Jermaine Wright, Vignal, Perry, Licka (Pericard 79), Hammill, Euell (Surman 77), Viafara (Wright-Phillips 60), Safri, John.
Subs Not Used: Davis, Ostlund.

Booked: Thomas.
