Bolton Wanderers' young midfielder Chris Basham has spoken of his delight at penning a new two-and-a-half-year deal with the club and says he is setting his sights on a first team place.

The 21-year-old has featured in more first team fixtures this season and says his career at the club is just beginning.

He told the official club site: "I'm happy that I have signed a new deal and I hope that this contract is just the beginning of a long career with the club.

"It will take me up until I'm 24-years-old and hopefully I can mature even more as a footballer in that time," he continued.

He went on: "It has been a very good and exciting last 12 months when I look back- I made my debut against Sunderland, my hometown team, and I have gone on to play at the Emirates Stadium, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge."
