Bolton Wanderers duo Gretar Steinsson and Fabrice Muamba have defended the team's style of play and confirmed the team will not change as long as the Trotters keep picking up points.

Manager Gary Megson and his team have received criticism both from their own fans and those in the media for playing aggressive and direct football.

But the team now sit in 13th in the Premiership table and the two players have defended the side.

Steinsson told the Bolton News: "I really don't care what gets written or said about Bolton.

"I just care about getting points and seeing us move up the table," the defender said.

He went on: "So long as we come out with a win I don't care how we play, or what style we use. It's show no mercy, really."

Muamba echoed his teammates thoughts by saying: "People criticise us without understanding the reality, the teams who pass the ball all the time are invariably those in the top four.

"The rest pretty much play the same way, so why are we the ones who always get singled out- it's unfair," the England Under-21 International finished.
