Bolton Wanderers midfielder Matt Taylor says it is imperative they start winning games, starting with a victory over his old club Portsmouth in Saturday's bottom of the table battle.

Taylor joined the Trotters from the south coast club in January 2008 and has since scored three times in the last five games between the sides.

And he expressed some concern about his old club's current situation but confirmed there would be no mixed feelings on Saturday as Bolton go in search of their first win of the season.

Taylor told the Bolton News: "It's imperative we start winning games, how that happens I don't mind.

"I'll take it going in off a defenders' backside if it means we win 1-0- if the game has to be ugly and we won 1-0 I wouldn’t give a monkeys," Taylor continued.

About the team's style of play he said: "When you have an asset like Kevin [Davies] you want to use it.

"But it's important not all our play goes that way- we have brought in Sean Davis, who is a very good passer of the ball and we need to use his strengths more," Taylor said about his teammate also facing his old club on Saturday.

He finished: "The important thing now is we need to win- not how we win or whether it is pretty or attractive."
