Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies has called on the rest of his Bolton teammates to toughen up in oreder to stave off the threat of another season flirting with relegation.

Although the striker doesn't feel Wanderers' league position is a problem right now he feels the squad need to head manager Gary Megson's warning that they are lacking a ruthless streak.

Davies told the Bolton News: "I think the manager wants us to be a bit more ruthless and that’s the way it’s got to be.

"He’s right — we are a nice bunch but sometimes we have got to be a bit harder," Davies went on.

The former Blackburn striker continued: "I hope we’re not looking at it as if it was a relegation battle, it’s still early days so we don’t have to start hitting the panic buttons just yet."
