Setting off on the 12.38 from Shipley arrive Sunderland 15.01. Overnight then back home tomorrow.

I have a sneaky feeling we could beat them on their own patch again but am not holding my breath. I will be happy with a point.[^]

We've played pretty well in front of bigger crowds this season (notwithstanding arsenal at home). There will be 20,000 there tonight; so as long as we don't burn ourselves out at leave ourselves hanging on the last 20 we'll do ok I hope.

And we're 8th, that's not so much mid-table.

Sunderland have had a lot of draws lately,of course that may mean they`re due a home win.

We have the joint best defence in the league but one of the lowest scoring attacks. So whatever else probably not a high scoring game with 1-0 or 2-0 most likely but 0-0 or 1-1 or even 0-1 not out of the question.

I think I`ve covered most options there,no doubt the actual result will be completely different.[rle]

It will be interesting to see how Blackpool fare against Sunderland.
Sunderland have not scored over 1 goal in their last 9 matches, a stat that runs parallel to the departure of Maja, but Will Grigg is someone who could fire them back to the championship, he has done it before.
It will be tough, but a positive Blackpool result is more that plausible. [^]

No defensive cover at all on the bench.
Feeny and Fonz could never do a full back or even sing back role unless it involved prancing around and double teapotting....

Would put us two points above the drop with a 12 point deduction - maybe more reassuring is that based on current games/points we're averaging 1.5 points per game which would put us on 69 points minus 12 would leave us on a very safe 57 points.

Considering so much went wrong before the game, then immediately after kick off, thats a very good point. If we can catch the faltering Charlton then we might end up meeting Sunderland in the Play Offs so good to make our mark without being full strength.

A great result that and well done to those who made the effort to get there.

Midweek fixtures that need a bit of shoe leather are a real bind but a point in the tank will make it feel worth it.

Superfans like me know the score [smi]

The kids looked knackered at the end but a good backs to the wall performance.
Evans should have had a nailed on penalty.

They fought like tigers and more than earned that point.
The early injury to Bola was a big blow but they just got on with it.
We had a good penalty shout turned down and would have deserved to be 2-0 up at that stage of the game.
Virtue and Evans more than played their part.
Evans in particular looked quality.
Kirby also looked lively in the short time he was on.

Would I be greedy to say they should have had 3 points?
They should have had a penalty to make it 2-0 and even at the end Long had a great chance to control and shoot. Granted, that Grigg chance should have made it 1-1, but the penalty possibility in question, early in the second half, seemed blatant.
Nevertheless, a great point for Blackpool and another match that I predicted correctly.(2/3)

Just reading the match report. Sounds like it was thoroughly deserved. Keep this squad together, extend the deals and bring in just a few extra bodies and I believe we could really do something next season.

It was a great game of football. The stats don't give credit to the game. I thoroughly enjoyed the night, including catching up with friends and some friendly banter in Weatherspoons after the game.

Now awaiting my train home on which I will be glued to the phone for reports from London.
