The Swansea model

Not looking good now is it, just goes to show what happens when fans get involved then sell out for greed

Its looking like a right horror story now and nothing the Swansea trust can do about it

Jenkins has a lot to answer for

I wonder what the EFL will do ....

OG - I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you on the whole fans ownership matter but you are using a very small sample - one club !!!!!

I doubt you'd have used Swansea to support your argument when they won the league cup and were playing in Europe under Michael Laudrup.

If we're talking about "fans" like you OG, I'd completely agree.

The old Swansea model was replaced by the 'EPL' model so its daft to refer to it in such a way, although Jenkins who's now left did bale out a few weeks ago.

The fact remains however that Trusts would have an impossible job in making a PL club competitive and that in reality they're the only option for the lower league clubs.

When footballers can command wages of 300k pw its time to pack up and start again, where the only people who can afford to go are retired civil servants and teachers.

The EFL of course will simply deduct points from Dirty Leeds...

It's not rocket science is it? The higher you go up the leagues the less fan ownership can work. Fan ownership in essence caps ambition without having any floor for bad times. Unless there was a fan who had money to invest, but if he did, he'd buy wouldn't he?

Football is risk and reward. And as long as owners work for the football club they can take a fair return on their investment nobody could complain.

Fair point founts

I think the issue at Swansea from what I've been told is that when they did the deal with the yanks they didn't involve the trust one bit, so in essence Jenkins sold out for cash

OG, then that's proof of what I've been saying, namely that when times are good fans on board are welcomed and involved. When things go boobies up, these fans are ignored. Better to remain outside and have powers to question irrespective of good and bad owners.

founts

all the way[^]

For me BST need to stay well out of being actively and officially involved in the running of BFC.

Maybe put this one to a vote ? Personally Id welcome elected members of BST to have places at boardroom level, maybe on similar lines to Portsmouth . If the membership didnt agree then to be fair , Id go with a majority vote .

The only thing that will work here is if someone has a tax bill they need to write off via owning a football club and they choose to do so in a way that keeps fans happy as a diversion.
