Conflict of interest...

How can Scholes take the managers job at Oldham whilst having a 10% stake in Salford?

What if these two clubs progress in next seasons FA cup and are drawn together in the 4th round. They then draw the game and before the replay is decided they draw Man Utd at Old Trafford in the next round?

What are the odds on that lot happening?
Slim to feck all I'd say.

Conflict of interest...
Of course it's hypothetical and unlikely, but it merely highlights the potential for a conflict of interest.

Conflict of interest...
Bada

I think people spend too much time winging about the EFL but I totally agree with you here.

If there is no conflict of interest then why are Oldham not allowed to buy or sell players or loan players from and to Salford ?

Hypothetical I know but if Oldham needed to get £200k to avoid being wound up they would not be allowed to get that £200k from Salford.

I am amazed that Scholes hasn't got rid of his stake in Salford because it opens himself up to all sorts of accusations in the future even if they are without foundation.

They won’t need to loanf rom Salford when they’ve got Manure connections.

Simply really, the EFL are desperate to have Scholes associated with League 2. Adds a bit of "glamour", promotes a bit of interest in the basement division and gets people talking. I don't agree with it at all but there you go.

Definite conflict of intrest, especially as they are both local to Greater Manchester.

Conflict of interest...
I thought this thread was going to be about the possible 12 point deduction. Surely, if there are football owners from other clubs deciding on the future of another club, that is a conflict of interests.[:(]

He's no longer a director just an investor. No conflict as a result.

There are far worse conflicts of interest in football than that

Conflict of interest...
Apparently the EFL has been asked to be in touch and said they'd like to be notified if there'll be any business between the two clubs - in other words they can't be bothered monitoring it themselves. Waste of space.

Conflict of interest...
I think the conflict of interest arises if one has a controlling interest in a club, whether that be 51% or say 30% where the remainder of the shareholding is split between a number of other people. In which case the 30% could be the dominant holding in terms of club policy. Then you can't run or participate in the running of another club. I think that was the reason given as to why Mike Ashley was limited to only a certain percentage of Rangers shares while he still owned NUFC. A 10% shareholding in Salford is not regarded as significant where there are quite a few other ex-MUFC players each with the same 10%.

Apparently he's allowed to have a 10% interest of another club, a club which has many of his friends with larger holding.
He is an Oldham lad and has always been a keen fan.
I see nothing wrong with his position and hope he does well at Oldham AFC.
