Switzerland Trade Deal

More good news for the brexiteers.
Largest trade deal yet once we leave the horrendous EU.
More deals pending.
Germans in a panic over jobs.
Fantastic new trade deals to be signed soon after 29th March once the EU no longer tie our hands.
A good news Monday[^]
Remainiacs in meltdown[^]
Soon the British will be able to sample more fantastic products from USA, Australia, NZ etc.[^]
Absolutely fantastic!

You do realise Nige that this is one of the 40 EU trade deals the Brexiteers claimed would be Ďsimply rolled overí one we left the EU.

That is one out of 40. What about the other 39 ?

Plus the recent Japanese EU deal which the Japanese are definitely not going to roll over because of the reduced UK leverage.

Yes great news indeed.

Doesn't it simply replicate the deal we already have through the EU? It's a good thing, no doubt, but I'm not sure it deserves the fanfare from the op.

True SSP.

Basically it is like celebrating that the sun will still rise on the 30th March and saying what a success Brexit has been.

"biggest so far"

not hard is it, isn't much competition as very few (if any) deals agreed.

Everyone else is laughing at us because of the mess we're making getting out of EU. Waiting for us to panic so they can try to screw us over.

And you still think these idiots in charge are capable of strong negotiating?

About this EU deal with Japan that the Remainers keep on citing.

Does that mean that Japan can import and distribute cars at the same cost as if they had been built in the EU?

Does anybody actually know?

As for the Swiss deal, yes it's a break through but they were bound to Roll over!! [:D]

It would seem that whatever deal has been struck is just a continuation of existing agreements which are of course based on EU regulations, freedom of trade in, goods finance and services and of course freedom of movement.

What other deals are pending? Ministers have been quoted as saying that the lack of trade deals currently in the bag is a national emergency.

I look forward to my stack of gold being safe, I might buy a new watch as well, and some chocolate.

Only 69 trade deals left to do!!! vunderbar

Looking at this from a neutral position; I would say that it's clearly a positive that a status quo deal has been agreed.

I would throw in the caveat that the major product that we would want to trade with the Swiss is pharmaceuticals. Given that the UK also has a strong base in the sector (AstraZeneca and GSK) it stands to reason that it's easier for us to come to a mutually agreeable position; there'll be things we make that they need and vice-versa.

Let's see whether it's as simple when we're on less of an equal footing and simply relying on our apparent buying power.

The times rich list is self declared so cannot be taken seriously, especially if you were a criminal who wanted his ego massaging and to appear successful to young girls that you might want to gain the confidence of before you abused them....in theory of course.
