Update from Steve Sly

I have had contact from Steve over the last two days today he gave me a full update of the current position. Firstly the club has a new Chief Executive in waiting. The Chief Exec was described as being dynamic with a huge variety of skills and has worked at the highest level and will help to regenerate the finances at Afcb. He is presently working behind the scenes helping out in negotiations with all the various contracts sponsorships and catering deals etc these are progressing well and should be in place shortly. With regards season tickets and prices etc he stated the these have been set realistically with reductions in many areas whilst recognising the balance between huge discount and success on the field..

Steve made the point that Jeff has offered by letter prior to this Saturdays Football league deadline a very fair and realistic contract offer to all the current playing staff and has pledged to do his utmost to keep the squad together within the financial constraints that the new season will bring.

I asked about any new investors and what was happening. While Jeff and Steve are aware of the clubs past history it is their new new partners that are carrying out the due diligence and whilst these new people are paying their own lawyers and accountants to sort these matters out Jeff and Steve are bound to give them the time required to complete this vital process Steve mad the point that with exclusivity comes the responsibility of funding throughout the summer months at this moment in time the only person funding the club is Jeff. He also commented on the fact that if people believe that the mystery millionaires have not had an equal opportunity to purchase the football club then they have either not followed the full process correctly or have their own personal agendas ahead of the clubs best interests.

The question I asked was why no contact till now. The reply was that until all these had been done and deals finalised there was no news. However a meeting with the ST will be arranged as promised and I will make sure that this happens.

Steve also paid tribute to all of the staff remaining at the club for their efforts during this difficult with special mention to Liz Finney who is working tirelessly filling the voids left by the loss of staff.
