It has just been announced this morning at 7am on the YCCC website that our overseas player for 2017 is Peter Handscomb, a 25 yo Aussie batsman who does keep wicket in 1 day cricket. He has recently played for Australia. Apparently he is available for 'most' of the season. Sounds good to me.

Happy New Year Colleagues of the Corridor!

Here's to 2017 being another good year for YCCC and the C of U.

I posted about Handscomb's cricketing connections with the part of Cambridgeshire I live in on another thread - but here is a quick New Year question:

Who is the former Yorkshire player who had cricketing connections with Cambridgeshire?

PS The early post is nothing to do with Mrs Donnylad and I returning from any New Year party but we both have the Fenland Ague and at the moment I feel better sitting down than laying in bed!!

And the very current Australian Test batsman made a hundred today against Pakistan. The Yorkshire born Renshaw also scored a ton.

.... er yes .... there was a player in that match who took 3 for 49 and then scored 146 not out batting at 7. Alas it wasn't our man but Marcus Peter Stoinis.

I wonder if he wants a few games in UK this summer?
