Pudsey Congs

My season of unsatisfactory spectating continued with a cameo 30 mins at Pudsey Congs, the game ending in defeat for us at about 5.30 when the re-scheduled overs were completed in pleasant sunshine.I am assuming there was a late start due to a saturated ground and it looks like they agreed on 32 or so overs each. I was expecting more but with Yorks 9 wickets down maybe not many by the end. Worcs made over 200 and when I arrived Yorks lost 3 quick wickets with everyone hitting out ....

Hoylandswaine Cc - Another Well Backed Club

Hoylandswaine is a village 4 or so miles west of Barnsley and about 8 miles south east of Huddersfield. They are an ambitious club with money behind them and having moved from the Central Huddersfield League to the Huddersfield League in 2010, they are now one of the strongest sides in that competition with a number of players who will be known to you.Joe Sayers for one is registered with them and has been playing for Hoylandswaine since being left out by Yorkshire, making a hundred ....

Wrenthorpe Cc - Ambitious And Successful

I think Ive mentioned this club before. They are situated a few miles north west of Wakefield, east of the M1. They have dominated the Central Yorkshire League for some time and have also won the Heavy Woollen and Jack Hampshire Cups. Like Hoylandswaine CC they probably have money behind them and are taking full advantage, being very well organised under the captaincy of Gary Fellows. Bradley Parker is with them this season but is batting lower down the order. A key player appears to be ....

The Bat And Ball - Cricket At Hambledon

Have had a few days down South with the family, and by pure chance came across Hambledon.Took a slight detour and had lunch in the Bat and Ball pub. Lots of memorabilia on the walls re the "cradle of English cricket" and Richard Nyren. Nice cosy atmosphere and good food!Had a look at the current Hambledon ground and had a chat with their groundsman, who was preparing a wicket for a freindly fixture tonight. He said seven out of eight league games have so far had been either rained off completely ....

Delph And Dobcross Cc - White Roses/red Roses

There are six cricket clubs in Saddleworth - a large number for a parish of just some 10,000 people - and Delph and Dobcross CC are arguably the strongest as they are currently one of the better sides in the Huddersfield League. In fact all their sides including junior are in the Huddersfield League. So their players and all their opponents are used to travelling over the hill and are part of the Yorkshire cricket system including being members of the Yorkshire Cricket board. ....

Shepley Cc Experience The Ups And Downs Of Sport

Shepley CC of the Huddersfield League have had a very difficult week. Their secretary and website manager (it is an excellent website please see link)has resigned over a dispute with a fellow commitee member and now their square has been damaged by a car being driven repeatedly over it one night last week. This weekend's home match had to be called off. As the week - like many - has been so wet then the damage is considerable. These problems are in contrast to last season when ....

Rossington Main Cc Expulsion By Cycl !

Rossington Main CC situated in the former mining village near Bawtry will be hoping to recover from a tweeting incident in the way that Azeem Rafiq has done. Only as a result of 'inappropriate' tweeting by some of their players, the club has actually been banned from playing in the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League until 2014! The results of both their first and second teams have been anulled from the competition. I dont know what was actually said but it was deemed so bad by ....
