Bret 'the Hitman' Hart, legendary former WWE champion and member of several of wrestling's halls of fame will be the 'guest host' of WWE's flagship live show Raw tonight. Bret's relationship with WWE and owner Vince McMahon has been notoriously rocky ever since Bret left the company in 1997. That was the night of the infamous 'Montreal Screw Job', where in a time when wins and losses still mattered Vince conned Bret out of his title by secretly instructing the ref to end the match and award the title to Bret opponent Shawn Michaels, a different outcome to what Bret was expecting even thoug he had creative control in his contract. That night Bret punched Vince's lights out backstage. Since then Bret went to WCW where he was forced to retire due to concussions, later expereicned a stroke that he has worked hard to recover from and endured many tragedies within the Hart family, one of the most families in wrestling. He also recently wrote a long book.
What will occur when Bret returns on live tv tonight? It is known that this will probably not be a one off as Bret has signed a short term contract, and tonight may lead to something down the line, even at Wrestlemania. Bret's neice Natalya and nephew DH Smith both wrestle with WWE as part of the Hart Dynasty.
Meanwhile on another network at the same time as Raw, TNA Impact will be running live oppostion to WWE for the first time in the smaller wrestling company's history. And it will mark the live debut on Impact of Hulk Hogan, the new 'business partner' of TNA boss Dixie Carter in both real life and story line. Although far too banged up to wrestle, Hulk and his minion Eric Bishoff have promised to take an active role in the direction of TNA wrestling and tonight will debut several new signings and 'suprises' for TNA. Speculation has ran rampage at who might turn up, including the possiblilty of Ric Flair, but the names that almost certainly be there include Sean Waltman (X-Pac) and low-functioning alchoholic Scott Hall and Sting creating the possbility of a reunion, along with Kevin Nash of 90s WCW faction nWo Wolf Pack (except for Konnan, who cares not for TNA). Hogan is expected to employ many of his friends, allies and lackeys over the coming weeks.
