Wolves bounced back to gain a point on Saturday after seemingly gifting Stoke City a two goal advantage. One change was made to the away line up as Chris Iwelumo replaced Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, and it was Wolves who perhaps started brightest following Michael Kightly’s 20 yard drive in the opening minutes. Matthew Etherington then saw his attempt from a corner saved by Hennessy in the Wolves goal and cleared out by Kevin Doyle. Jody Craddock was then penalised for a challenge on Ricardo Fuller- James Beattie taking the free kick and accusations of handball against David Edwards subsequently rejected. On 14 minutes the visitors could have taken the lead when George Elokobi sent in a cross for Christophe Berra, which both he and Stoke keeper Sorensen missed as it went wide.

Fuller shot wide from a Rory Delap header before the Potters took the lead in the 17th minute- Elokobi putting the ball into his own net after getting on the end of an Etherington cross. Fuller could have made it two moments later though Berra was able to block and Etherington blasted his follow up attempt wide. Segundo Castillo then shot wide from 30 yards before Beattie saw an effort saved after meeting a Ryan Shawcross centre. But just before half time a second Stoke goal arrived as Etherington volleyed an effort home following a Delap long throw. Iwelumo finished the half by setting up Doyle for an attempted consolation.

At the interval Castillo was replaced by Nenad Miljas, and he had an almost instant impact as his free kick in the opening minutes of the second half was met by Craddock after Berra had flicked it on, meaning Craddock had his first Premier League goal in around five years. Minutes later an almost identical situation led to Sorensen saving, and Elokobi was replaced with Richard Stearman with around an hour played. An equaliser arrived on 64 minutes as Craddock scored again after heading in , and Wolves looked the more confident of the sides as Stoke used all three permitted substitutes in a ten minute spell, preceding Faye’s effort from a free header- Miljas nearly snatching a winner for the visitors in the last minutes.
