Saido Berahino being looked at by Everton, Crystal Palace and Stoke... with West Brom striker confident that he can escape Hawthorns

Saido Berahino is increasingly confident of gaining a transfer away from West Bromwich Albion this window with Everton, Crystal Palace and Stoke considering bids.

West Brom have offered the striker a fresh 60,000-per-week contract but there is slim chance of him signing and the club are thought to prefer a sale this January rather than a protracted tribunal in the summer.

Tony Pulis would like funds now to supplement his transfer budget and offers of 10million for Berahino could see a deal clinched. The West Brom manager is set to meet with chairman John Williams to discuss matters.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has added Berahino to his list of targets and made his desire for a raft of fresh signings clear in post-match statements after the FA Cup defeat by Leicester. Berahino would offer an alternative to Romelu Lukaku up front and also an option on the wing with Yannick Bolasie out injured for the next year.

Stoke have registered their interest with Mark Hughes on the lookout for a new centre-forward after an underwhelming contribution by Wilfried Bony. But Stoke have been frustrated in attempts to get an asking price out of West Brom.

Sam Allardyce is also on the hunt for additional firepower in Crystal Palace's battle against relegation with injury concerns over Connor Wickham and Loic Remy.

In this context Berahino's confidence in finally getting his desired move away from The Hawthorns is growing. He could sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club now that would see only nominal compensation of around 300,000 to West Brom but it is believed the former England Under-21 international would like to stay in the Premier League.

Berahino has not played senior football since September and failed to make a match-day squad in weeks but looked sharp in scoring twice for West Brom's Under 23s against Aston Villa on Monday night.

His current 20,000-per-week terms expire at the end of this season and West Brom have long targeted the 8m price attached to Danny Ings' transfer as a guide for any tribunal fee. But Berahino's length of absence from action might prove a factor and a guaranteed sum of money would be preferred.

The 23-year-old's relationship with West Brom has never really recovered after Tottenham's 23m offer was rejected on deadline day 18 months ago.

West Brom will continue their search for a new midfielder after conceding defeat to Everton in the 20m pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin.

I'll drive him there myself. If we can get a fee of around 10m for him in the process, that will be a job well done [;)]
