Stoke boss Mark Hughes has once again spoke of his desire to wrap up a deal with midfielder Stephen Ireland.
Ireland joined the Potters on a permanent deal after joining the club on an initial loan deal, he signed in January but his contract will run out at the end of the current season.
The midfielder was just a bystander as Stoke took on his old club Aston Villa on Sunday, which was part of the deal that allowed him to come to Stoke.
As it was Stoke romped home to a 4-1 win, imagine what we could have done to Villa with Ireland in the side.
Hughes said: "We are very hopeful that something is going to be concluded very quickly.
"He was really disappointed he couldn't take part today but we hope it will be concluded.
"Stephen needs stability in his career. He hasn't had that for whatever reason and now he will at a club where he will be settled and have the impact his ability is able to have on a team."
