John Terry - Player/Manager? If we're ambitious enough & Eisner takes over. Worth a try as he's a leader & lives just up the A3 near Esher. Loftus-Cheek as a season long loan player as well. May be Pie in the Sky at present as Bournemouth looking to sign but why not the S.Coast top side?

What we definitely need is a big name, maybe with slightly more experience than Terry - someone like Zola or Teddy Sheringham

It's great to see that Cook's success is hurting you so much.

But playing the 'not allowed an opinion' card doesn't really ever work, and definitely not when your opinion was proved so spectacularly wrong.

Getting back to the original post, now I've never been a great fan of Cook, but fair do's to the bloke he stuck by his guns, and it paid off in the end.
Now you want to replace him with someone who has not jot of management experience, and outside of Stamford Bridge is one the most hated footballers ever to put on a pair of boots. To the "Captain, Leader, Legend" slogan, your should add, "Cheat, Wife Stealer".

Got you all going not hard on here is it! Terry has at least 2 more years left of playing at Premier League level if he wants to but I think he wants to move into management later. Cook has finally got us over the line in albeit 3rd place. If he stays we'll have the same negative tactics again next season & personally can't see him still at the club at Xmas. The new owner will want a name & Terry is a leader & a football legend. The owner's problem will be selling the long term prospects of the club. He will also have access to lots of Chelsea & other top club youngsters which Cook could never attract. Wenger is my back up btw but will stay at arsenal or go abroad.

CountvonCount, not for one moment am I advocating Cook is replaced but a one Kenny Dalglish became player-manager of Liverpool in 1985 after the resignation of Joe Fagan, winning three First Divisions, two FA Cups and four FA Charity Shields, before resigning from Liverpool in 1991. Not bad for someone who had no management experience.

Blue Bob many thanks for backing me up against the torrents of abuse here. The main problem here would be selling JT the club. He will have so many options in the PL & abroad. His lack of managerial experience could be helped with an experienced assistant. I still believe Cook won't last until next Xmas I may be wrong but don't delude yourselves a couple of months ago most of you wanted him out!

fvck me this has to be a record even for us, last October /November the dins were calling for PC to be sacked , we have not even finished this season and a new one wants him to be sacked before we even kick a ball in L1

So Mikey boy, if we were top of the league at Xmas 20 points ahead and plying better than Carlisle would you want him sacked?

P&P We won't be 20 points clear at Xmas. More like 20 points off the top spot & Carlisle are garbage.Vision is needed here & if you're happy watching the negative rubbish we played at home for most of the season best of luck to you! Things are going to change big time at the club & we are moving into a new era. We need to be prepared!

Mikey, are you seriously suggesting we get rid of Cook? The man that's led us to promotion? If so then you're either a wum, a scummer in disguise, 1 of the 3 stooges or just an idiot that wants to become the 4th stooge [:D] it gets even worse when you suggest replacing him with Terry, surely you could have thought of someone better

Ah you must be Mikey then stubby as you answered a post that was meant for him. I know you'd never suggest sacking the best manager in the lower leagues (until we do replace him then we can all blindly follow the new man no matter what).
Seriously Mikey, there's no point going on with this (even though it's a good, interesting post), the din squad won't allow it so will soon start calling you a summer or rudibeans (a poster on here they don't like because he has different opinions to them)

O.k. F.E. I give up! Yes I am serious & have followed the club for the past 50 years. I was quite closely associated with the club some time ago. You don't have to like the guy but what I'm saying is he's a Leader & Winner with Chelsea. He's now stated he's leaving so just made a suggestion that he could be a success with Pompey. Otherwise bring back Harry with JT as Captain. Last post from me on the subject.

Coo also appears to be a winner and leader, PGOB's post on his last 4 season's show this. If we'd failed to get promoted then i'd happily suggest replacing Cook but we're doing well enough with him in charge and bringing in an inexperienced manager would be a huge risk, take a look at Zola, he's a leader but how did he do at Birmingham?

Just to answer the question - they all started their management careers off at the last club they played for. In other words, they knew all about the club that they would be managing. Guardiola is similar - but he managed the Barca B team before stepping up to the first team.

Michael Doyle to replace Cook anyone?

Cut n Paste Pete is a scummer no less.

The fact that the supermong thread on Saintsweb will soon be 8 years old tells us all what we need to know about chips on their shoulders.

The fact that one of their retards rocked up in the Fratton End singing "One team in Hampshire" the week after they loast in the final - tells us all about their pain.

The fact that Brighton will almost certainly soon be another South coast club to have won the 2nd tier title must grate as well.

Scummers - just about to be bought by the Chinese as well - but they can't really afford the whole club. Hilarious.

You Pompey WASPs are so sexist it's unreal. If Cook goes in summer I hope that Pompey are the first team to appoint a female football manager. That would make the press.

And that she took us into the Championship at the first time of asking. That would make even bigger press.

Although I expect there'd be an outcry now and then about you have to have a man leading you. Blah Blah Blah
