One minute Pompey are on the verge of financial meltdown according to the national press - the next they're about to sign a young French striker in the January transfer window.

According to a number of newpapers Pompey are on the trail of Mohammed Taidara - French of Senegalese descent - who has indictaed he may be leaving Paris Saint Germain shortly.

However, the 19-year-old has yet to feature in the PSG first team squad this season, despite the club having a number of injury problems.

'Numerous English and Spanish clubs are after me. It's not certain I will be at Paris after the next tranfer period. I was top scorer in a tournament and interest in me has increased,' he said.
