Settling for mid table

Looks like mid table with a bit of a push for the play offs to keep the interest up towards the end of the season. Just the usual rubbish about trying to get this and that player and ending up with run of the mill championship players. If Gibson really meant to have a go we would be buying players who would get us promoted and then hang about to keep us up. He is just going through the motions.

Fecking hell, this place really is a pit of misery sometimes.

Which team in the Championship has done anything that makes it look like they're ambitiously gunning for automatic?
Villa signing John Terry is the only notable thing to happen yet.

Howson 105 prem appearances in the last 5 years, plus player of the year n an 8th place team last year. Clearly better than run of the mill.

As for Gunter, a very decent RB in the champo, probably one of the top 4 or 5 for consistency

As for Assombalonga, one of the top CFs in the champo.

I don't think any of these are run of the mill.

I don't necessarily agree with the OP as its far too early.

That said, see Wolves thus far. Incredible amount of money spent by them (more than some Prem teams and they haven't finished yet). I know spending big is no guarantee, but it usually buys you quality.

Top 6 for us IMHO.

No, and I don't think we've bought any of them yet either. Gunter is staying at Reading and it looks like sick note is going to Burnley

Come January and I repost this message let's see how many of you who just can't see what's going on with Gibson will have changed their tune.

The season hasn't even kicked off and the transfer window is still open [:o)]

We have the core of a promotion team, we only need a few additions.

Feel free to enlighten us as to who we should sign in your opinion.

So Harrogate YOU think we only need a few additions. That's good we will be right up theirs at the top of the table come January with the addition of a couple of average championship players. As l said let's talk again January.

I wouldn't settle for mid table, but at the moment I would settle for the play offs.

Depending who we sign, my expectations might change.

They could start by stating they are keeping Gibson and De Roon but that's not going to happen as they cash in on saleable assets. Just in case we don't go back up!!!

Gibson has said he has a summer of ' Soul Searching' which is usually a players way of making a move away seem like he didn't want to do it and DeRoon is being linked with clubs continually, which means his agent is drumming up interest, we could keep them but if you look at Ramirez then it's better to have players whose hearts are in it for the push.

"you are aware that the transfer window has just opened on saturday,"

Or maybe it opened on the 9th June like it did for every other club in the league.

You're right, the likes of Messi extending his contract with Barca has really messed up our transfer ideas.

You're forgetting the back bone of the team we have has already been promoted once and play offs the year before. By adding the type of players we are looking at we are setting ourselves up for another very good run in the championship.

PS yes I do think we only need a few additions to a core team that got automatic promotion, particularly attacking midfielders.

Still waiting for these signings you think we should make? Lukaku? Ronaldo? They need to be better than what we have and happy to play in the championship.

We all like to think of Gibson as an idealistic young chairman who was Boro through and through, maybe he was. Now he's a hard nosed business man who does what's best for business first. Just look at last season.

LeFlem - please can you answer the question about which players you would sign? It's posts like this where people believe they know better but then provide no substance to back it up.

Tell us all what would you do, other than talking about players you want to keep
