Attn Admin: Thread about Anti-Malware products

Yesterday I posted a message requesting help with a problem encountered running this webpage. Basically, it's gone haywire and takes forever to completely load the page. This means that not only is it very difficult to write this atm, but the system in general is slowed down while FMTTM is somewhere in the browser.
Dooderooni and other members kindly offered tips, but before I could act upon them, the thread vanished. Surely it wasn't deleted by admin? When I last looked, there wasn't anything offensive in the OP or replies. Nor was there a diatribe about FMTTM's advertising policy.
Any ideas?

I was considering asking where it had gone too.

Be "Brave" in your choice of Google keywords Horace. Look for the lion.

I put your username into google and fmttm. One of the results was titled Help! Ads removal to see if I could find it. When you click the link it doesn't load.

So even though I haven't been able to view the thread the title suggests you want to block the adverts. I think that probably gives you the reason why it was removed. Rob doesn't want people to block ads as his income on this site is from ads.

Anyhow, back to the matter of thread deletion.

While I and many others understand the need for ads I would like to ask why the repeated complaints about the unsuitable nature of the Revcontent ads at the foot of the page see no action?

As the op has found out, Revcontent ads are often delivered as a result of malware as well as a intentionally.

I dare say that a more appropriate ad delivery choice would not only see less people use ad blocking methods and in turn increase ad revenue, but also see more people use the site if it was more accessible in terms of functionality on all platforms and less risqué in terms of ad content.

This.

Totally unsuitable - very poor really.

Thanks again Dood. I'll make notes before it vanishes again.
The thing is, I wasn't having a go at Rob's ads, but something was broken at my end of things, and I was just trying to fix it. Right now I could live with the ads, if it would just load up in the usual few seconds that I'm used to.
Btw, I tried a system recovery but it failed to complete using the two most recent rollback points.

Adwcleaner should get rid of any browser hijacking then Malwarebytes will complete the job.

You might also want to look up "safe browsing" techniques to give you an idea of how the malware gets onto your pc by way of hidden installers or fake pop-ups from websites. A lot of sites are basically trying to trick users so you need to know their MO in order to avoid issues.

Finally got Adblock Plus working again and FMTTM board page has stopped churning out of control.
Thanks again Dood and others.

Sorry, been away from here a few days. Best use the appropriate sticky thread to get Admin's attention. It's where we look first.

I presume Rob or one of the others did the deleting.
