Just wondering why she just didn't trigger it instead of saying she would do it next week [?]

EU have said they have a chinwag a month later..

I can see EU administrators dragging their heels about it now.. almost a tortuous process..

EU countries may be fine with UK leaving.. EU political jobsworths are certainly not.. they'll try & make it as tough as they can..

I'd have liked the UK & EU nationals residency situation clarified within days of Article 50 being invoked..

We could already have done that unilaterally as part of leaving. Big shame we didn't.

EU will say they are happy for UK nationals to remain in EU. UK will then do the same. But then tell the UK people they negotiated really really hard to get that deal.

Who knows, EU might even allow UK people move and live in the EU. Its not like they are the ones wanting to put barriers up.And that would encourage some big corporates to relocate or expand back to the EU

We know the EU will let Europeans live in the U.K. I thought that the government want to use allowing Europeans in , as a bargaining tool for ex-pats to stay in EU countries.

We haven't done it yet as the EU are celebrating their 60 anniversary this weekend and we agreed not to spoil the party.

I'm pretty sure we will.. I'd like to think other EU countries would do the same.. though remember each & all have to agree.. it only needs one dissenting vote to put the kibosh on it..

as for us doing it unilaterally.. without a reciprocating agreement.. whilst we may wish to, it would be naive at best..

I can't really believe, even, bureaucrats or politicians will use people as bargaining chips..

No, that's not true. It's just a qualified majority, that's all, which is 55% of the EU states, that represent 65% of the people.

People seem to be confused with process of leaving the EU.

Here is some information on how it works.

It looks like this could take many years if we want deals with EU and it's likely to end up with court cases.

She's desperate not to trigger it. She's always been desperate not to trigger it. Once she does, the cluster XXXXXX that has been created will be fully visible.

"She's always been desperate not to trigger it"

Excuse the terminology, but that is total rubbish, because if there is one person in the country who is now determined to trigger Article 50, it is the PM.

And nothing will be visible when it is triggered. It all depends on how the Market Makers decide to play it.

I think she's desperate to do it and get it out of the way.

You need to remember that the Tories do things for the benefit of their own party first and the country way down the list.

The media will helpfully paint any disaster as being caused by the EU and she'll get back in, no problem. It will be worse for her politically if she is flexible (at least at any given point in time, if not retrospectively) and the hardest possible departure isn't achieved.

that pesky EU getting in the way.. and i'm sure using the EU as an excuse can be stretched beyond for 2020 for problems caused by government policy. they will also tell us setting up trade deals has been disruptive. that should cover them until 2030
