People leaving the game early?

Can someone please explain this to me.... we're 2-0 down against Manchester United. We pull a goal back so we're still fighting for a draw and people are leaving the ground ten minutes early? What more do you want to see where you wouldn't leave early... we could have easily pulled another goal back and drawn the game and you'd have missed it? I've left a game early once in my life when I was around 9 years old so I really don't understand why people do.

*** I'm not moaning if people have a genuine reason to leave before the end... but lets be honest, most people leaving don't have a genuine reason

Couple near me, arrived late for kick off, left early at half time, arrived late for second half then left early before full time. You wouldn't do it at the theatre so why at a football match ?

I used to leave early at every home game. The last train back to Penrith left at 17:03, so I used to leave the ground at 16:50 and sprint to the station. This changed once I learned to drive. I only ever had one issue with someone leaving early. We were at home to Sunderland and it was my first season without a season ticket (after nine consequence), a guy sitting near me was complaint about all these "fake" fans turning up for big games, hinting at me, because I was now in a different area to the ground than I normally sit. He the left with five minutes to go, while we were 2-1 up. We ended up drawing two each.

Doyle's. Most annoying are the half timies. Five in my row do it every game but not all at the same time. Up, down,up, down, up, down.

Ive seen people leave an ice hockey game with 5 minutes to go with Panthers 5-3 down and come back to win 6-5.

They`ve missed the excitement. Seems like they turn their support on and off like a remote control.Crazy.

Usually leave on 88 if the games dead and no chance of a comeback.

I then jog up the bridge and down the bridge all the way to the car as some extra fitness [^]

They are up and down all game. I don't understand why people can't sit down for 2x45 minutes. Perhaps they should have their own special section.

A lot of posters on this board understand fcuk all to be fair...
People don't leave in theatres? They do if what's in front of them is garbage ( as in most of this season) some leave early because they are elderly and can't do with stampedes.others leave because of transport issues, catching trains etc
By the way,no one stayed around when i finished a FULL days graft to applaud me....
People leave,so what ffs,grow up...
P.s. i don't by the way!

Leave after 80+ mins = not a real fan.

Get to your seat 10 mins into the game after sinking an extra pint, leave 5 mins before HT to get another sneaky beer in. Back to your seat 5 mins into the 2nd half = LAAAD.

"most people leaving don't have a genuine reason" Well what is a genuine reason.
I leave just as the extra time board goes up. Why because if I don't and then get caught at the level crossing it can take me en extra 15mins to get on the A66 then it takes me 50 mins to get home.
At the end of the day you pay your money and do what you want. I also sit at the end of a row so I do not inconvenience anybody.

It's true that after you've paid for your ticket, you're entitled to miss as much of the game as you like.

But it's also true that you're a [:o)] if that's what you choose to do.

What is there to 'get'
They are just doing it their way

What does everyone want?
All turn up 10 mins before a game and rhythmically clap to drown out me mark page.
Then drone on with 'Come On Boro' for 45 mins.
Back in your seat for 2nd half and repeat

I take my father out at 85 minutes as he is 90, a bit dodgy on his feet and we try to avoid the crush at the end. As a family we have supported the Boro non stop from 1891 (Ironopolis days) through 2 world wars division 3 and crowds of 5000. I travel up from Greater Manchester for the games and now discover I am not a fan.

the early leavers dont bother me, their choice and doesn't affect me, it's not an issue standing up for a few seconds to let them past. it's the lads who try to squeeze in 30 minutes of football into a day on the lash which get on my teets. arrive late, down for the pints on about 30-35 mins, then back up on about 50-55 mins, plus several trips to the bog in between and they dont all go at the same time so for the people in their row it's a stream of fatties squeezing past all game and for a few rows behind you're straining your neck while we take a corner or something whilst 'big and' shuffles along for his 3rd p155 in half an hour

they probably complain about the price of their tickets though.

I don't have a massive problem with it and there are some who have genuine reasons to leave early, such as the elderly or if you've travelled a way and need to get back by a certain time.

I think its the group who don't really need to leave early (or spend half the match in the concourse) that some of us don't really understand.

Surely you go to the game because you enjoy watching live football? Why would you then spend up to a third of the time not being able to watch it? The beer and food in the ground isn't that good surely?

The final 6 mins or so it basically turned into a restricted view.

The "half timies" are because half of Teessiders are alcoholics.

The "full timers" are, erm, probably going to the pub early.

Each to their own though, I can't fathom why anyone would be sad enough to be annoyed by it, and for those "embarrassed" by it... really!?

Those that stay to the end annoy me
Slow me down getting to my half time pint, then slow me down when I try and leave early
They also don't get out the way quickly enough when I arrive 5 minutes into each half - I've paid for my ticket and don't need these idiots making me have to stand in the middle of the row watching the game
Do they go to bed early the night before so that they can be sad enough to get to their seats before kick off and sing along to Me Mark?
And why do they have to give me daggers when I pop to the loo? I only do it once each half ffs
