What does 'over the top' mean at an airport ?

Does it mean th aeroplane just flew over the top of the runway ?

OTT refers to flying over top of clouds in visual flight, rather than with reference to instruments. This is usually done for brief amount of time to avoid weather or turbulence.

It's just flagging up that a new plane came through the area. Specifically, flight LH424 on its way from Munich to Boston, which flew over Scotch Corner at 38,000ft at about 5pm. The aircraft, D-AIXB, was only delivered to Lufthansa a few weeks ago.

I think if I was writing down "ooh new plane seven miles up" on a website I'd restrict it to inspiring ones like the A380 or the massive Antonov thing, rather than a completely anonymous 777-a-like, but that's probably just me.

On a side note; RAF Leeming is showing a fair bit of activity at the moment with lots of visiting aircraft. Also, as Coningsby is having runway repairs, the Typhoons will be bolt-holing to Leeming for a few weeks in April.
