Yet we have been in the bottom three for two weeks since the start of the season. I'm optimistic we will stay up! There is a long way to go yet, chill out and enjoy the ride!

We are currently 4/1 on with paddy power.

I'm as rose tinted as they comebut I fear the worst look at the fixtures to come, we can do it. It it's going to be very hard.

Sadly not being in the bottom 3 was always a false economy, as we were relying on other teams not winning, that can only go on for so long.

I've gone from 100% certain we're going down to maybe 90%.

He should have gone earlier, Gibson persevered with him for far too long.

I seen enough yesterday to suggest we might do something a bit different and who knows put one or two results together. It's a tall order but if we can do well these next three games there's suddenly hope and a bit more optimism.

A lot more positive than I was. I was advocating Karanka staying until the Palace game, then it seemed obvious from his attitude that he had lost it.

Yesterday was encouraging despite the result, can't believe people are saying nothing has changed.

"Yet we have been in the bottom three for two weeks since the start of the season"

Yeah, but we're in the bottom three NOW! If we were in for 2 weeks since the start of the season and those two weeks were in October, then different story of course.

Of course there's still time to turn it around but Palace and Leicester are pulling away and those just above them probably have enough cushion to survive.

I believe it's three out of the current bottom four. We need to pick up at least 7 points from the next 3 games and hope none of the other three sides come into decent form.

In the first half we looked like what we are a championship side, Clayton, and leadbitter plus Baraghan ad Bernardo are not good enough. We have won 4 games all season and all of sudden we are hoping to possibly win 3 or 4 from the last 10 games sorry chaps too little too late.

Well we certainly have to defend better all the goals were poor from our point of view. Our cause will be helped with the return of Friend, Chambers and Ayala in a team that is more offensive as in the last 25 mins yesterday

I'm a little bit more encouraged after the weekend. It wasn't brilliant but it was better, at least it looked like there was a bit of fight.

We play Swansea and have a game in hand on them so they are within sight.

I'd fancy Palace to loose against Chelsea so if we can get 3 points against Swansea we might have a chance.

I fear we need 14 or 15 points at a min and that may prove too much.

We need that first win quick , if that's Swansea the more achievable it can be .
Better to just think of the next game ahead .

4 wins and 6 draws is 18 Pts giving us 40 Pts there's room for a hick up lol

Beat Swansea , hull , Burnley and Sunderland .

There's still Bournemouth as well [;)]

Itl probably be Over by April 26th

Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull unfortunately.
Don't think the decision to sack was too late, just circumstances. There were three worse teams than Boro for most of the season so far, so would have been risky to sack Karanka.
Just a number of teams suddenly got their act together in the New Year.

We need to start games how we finished Sunday, two strikers, plenty of early balls into the danger area with midfielders supporting.

It is the only way and anything else is just waiting to lose.

Gibbo has used the same mistake as when he had Southgate as manager. Aitor should've been sacked a lot sooner.

But going off Sunday's performance, I already feel we have a far better chance of survival without Aitor than we did if we kept him.

The game against Swansea is the biggest of the season and a win would be huge!

We're going for certain, but what did people really expect from a newly promoted side out of the Top Flight for so long.

We pocket the money and go again next season. I just hope Gibson has a better plan than the last relegation because it ended up being a disaster.

if we can get 7 points from the next 3 games we're back on. Palaces run in is worse than ours and they can easily be dragged back into it.

I can't see us getting those 7 points though in all honesty. I can't even see us getting 5.

cant see us getting anything from the arsenal, bournemouth, citeh, chelsea, liverpool games.

burnley, sunderland and saints games at homes are basically must win

Sunday's improvements did not mean that Agnew had the courage to actually attack a Man U team who had played a couple of games while Boro were having a kip.

Seeing Agnew then say that we had them on the ropes near the end of the game and we did not have the run of the ball nearly made me weep.

You get the luck you deserve and a "chief coach" who expects a freescoring attack of Downing, Ramirez and Negredo (for about 70 minutes) to trouble an opposition , even one marshalled by the pathetic Smalling , was pushing his luck.

I suppose Agnew will go to Swansea hoping for a point.

I think we will go down as we have just left it too late and left ourselves too much to do.

Win our next 3 games and we are in with a shout but I just dont see it happening.

The positive though is that I think we'll have a right good go at it and Agnew will get a lot more out of them than Karanka could.

I remain to be convinced he is the long term answer but Im happy to see him have a go.

Whatever happens we need a complete overhaul in the summer

allied - I don't disagree, but we didn't change managers half way through the game; it was before the game.

I'm just pointing out that for all the promise and we did 'look more attacking', there's still a lack of actual focused attacking.

We're going to end up having 100 or more shots at goal fewer than last time we were relegated.

Negredo had 6 shots, three of which a half decent striker would have scored. Can't remember the last time a single player had so many chances.

30 points is plenty to aim for.If you're expecting to morph into a team that cuts through defences like invincibles arsenal that's not going to happen. If you're expecting Duncan ferguson Everton can you cope white the second ball cos you ain't dealing with all the first, that might happen. If it's based on the last 20 mins of last game there might be enough, only chance tho so let's not moan about it.Can be easier hunting down than trying to stay out in front. One of those above will crack

Brear66, our possession is mainly in our own half, passing backwards and sideways.
Glenn hoddle made a good point during the game, possession stats should include % of possession in the opposition half only.

I too remember Negredo's pathetic efforts on goal bear66 .
He had I think 3 headers , one of which was an easier position than Fellaini's goal score . The others were shots possibly miscues. If we are relying on him to score then we should look forward to the games next season against Mogga's lads. Personally for what difference Negredo is going to make in the run in, I'd see him off to Valencia tomorrow. Waste of space, and send Stuani with him ( although to Uruguay).
